Figured I'd post this in its own thread now since I finished the final version.

I got tired of my reservoir hanging at a wonky angle off the firewall with sheet metal screws that were barely hanging on.

As well, I needed that space open behind the driver batter for my next project, so I needed to come up with a solution for the reservoir.

Tested out my new 3D printer and came up with this after a couple iterations. No drilling required

A bit of a learning curve with this type of material compared with the easier stuff to print, but worth it. This is much stronger.

Excited for more projects!

What did you print it out of? I’m planning to try to design a few things for my 3rd gen also. I’m a total noob at design but I can print pretty well. I bought apollox for my truck parts printing. I also have petg that I could use.

Yup I'm using PETG. Just as strong as ABS and not as toxic. It's tricky to print though, but once you get it produces some good looking prints. Eventually I'd like to move to nylon and carbon fiber...but not yet. PLA+ is another good starter option, very forgiving and a bit stronger than PLA. But yeah if you print you probably know more than me...

I'm new-ish to printing but not to design/CAD.

I've used all the expensive CAD software through the companies I've worked for, but obtained Fusion 360 for home stuff like printing. It's free for "hobbyists" and pretty powerful.

I gotta say it's pretty cool to be able to design something, get it on the printer, and have a working part in a few hours! Normally it's weeks or months that I have to wait for my tooling designs at work (depending on the project size) to get to me.

There's a lot of good tutorials on YouTube for Fusion360 as well.

I got my printer in November. So I’m fairly new to printing as well. Apollox is very similar to abs without the difficulty to print or toxicity. Apollox was designed for automotive style applications. I print most everything in pla+.

I started out design on tinkercad and have started trying to learn fusion360. There’s a few things that I’d like to do a few designs that are beyond the scope of tinkercad.

Be aware that petg breaks down from sunlight (or at least that’s what I have read.

In my reading I actually found the opposite about PETG... it's one of the more UV resistant materials.

I'll have to read about Apollox. I've got a roll of ABS new that I probably won't use unless I build a ventilation system for the machine.

I just finished building my filament feed box (air tight, humidity and temp controlled, etc) the filament spools ride on roller bearings so it doesn't stress the hot end feed motor.

I knew all those boxes would come in handy some day... Until I can get a proper workstation...

I've been making a lot of parts for the machine too for "upgrades"

That looks great! The reservoir just hanging there aggravates me every time I open the hood.

I recommend a ball end allen when doing the install, it would make it easier. I have s set that uses a 1/4" socket that I picked up for the cam sensor swap, it worked well.

One other thing to mention if anyone ever gets one of these, the two pieces "interlock" where the red arrow is pointed, this just keeps the bottom piece clocked to the top piece so it doesn't rotate independently for some reason. The flat on the top piece is what keeps the whole assembly from rotating on the sheetmetal. Just have to be cognizant that the 2 pieces are interlocked, ie the top piece is in the "fang slot" of the bottom piece so it is captured. That's why I put a slot on the bottom piece, to allow some adjustment forward and back but also to hook around the top piece.

Great work! Mine literally hung off of 2 zip ties for the 13 years I owned it. Did have to replace one of the zip ties once, lol. But it looked pretty janky like that...

The entire reason for re-locating was for the next bracket design for the Bussman Aux Box when I get to my wiring fiasco. But I want to get the bracket designed first then I'll attack the wiring once it gets a bit warmer. I needed the space that originally the reservoir was hanging in. Took some measurements this weekend, I have a couple ideas for it:
