Hey all. I got a 2014 6.7 with 78k on the clock. Did a routine oil/ filter change every 5k miles today. Found out the oil was 3 quarts low… this was my first oil change since I purchased from a dealer so it is possible they filled it low but not likely. Is it normal for any oil to burn off in these motors? Thanks.

When did you purchase it?

About 7k miles ago, or 4 months ago.

Any motor can burn oil. More in the cold weather during startup. Oil change every 5k is not necessary. But that's your money.

How often do you check your oil?

I’ve only had the truck for around 5.5-6k miles so I wanted to change it since I didn’t know if the dealer actually changed it like they said. Just ended up being 3 quarts lower when I went to put the old oil in the new oil containers.
