was thinkin of piecing together my own lift for the truck...
i've looked at other lifts but non of them really caught my eye.. i'd rather pick and chose the parts i want rather then get a whole kit, and end up not liking the coils, or shocks etc.. but i need you guys help. this truck is my daily driver, i'll be doing a lil offroading with it, and some towing.

my original plan was to just do a 2" leveling kit so i can put my 35's on. I was replacing the seal on the vacuum pump earlier this week and just from being under the truck and looking around, i think its time for new coils and shocks...

in the end i would like the truck to sit level..

so i want to buy the parts i need and put em on.

for the front end i'd need:

coils (3"? or would i need sumthin a bit higher to make up for the heavy cummins)
shocks (3"-4" or sumthing bigger?)
trackbar/ or trackbar relocation brackets
control arms?
swaybar extentions?

for the rear:

would i be able to get away with replacing the blocks, or should i get an add a leaf? or both?

thanx

Blocks work pretty well and are cheap. I woud rather add a mini leaf pack though. Also I am not sure with a 3" lift but at 4.5 you will need a new pitman arm

Sound like a good candidate for a Carli Starter kit. You could get an SSI 3rg gen track bar conversion bracket and run an adjustable Carli trackbar. Control arms would be optional at 3" of lift but would help a bit with tire clearnance.

Well i kinda jumped the gun and ordered my rims got some moto metal 957's commin in a few weeks... but now for the lift as much as i would love the carli starter kit.. i dont think i have enough time to get money together to buy it..

so i wanna start buyin bits and peices right now..
so

3" springs in the front ( any manufacture suggestions)
Sway bar end links
Trackbar?
bilstein 5100 shocks
and 1" block for the rear..

would that make it sit level?

Carli springs or Thuren springs. Carli end links or Thuren end links. Dunno about blocks. And 5100's should be bought from carli sense they sell the correct.

the rims are moto metal 957 with 4.5" bs, and -12 offset..

would i need a new trackbar or trackbar relocation brackets?

for the rear end, from what i've read the carli started system raises the rear 1" to make the truck sit level, so i was just thinkin of throwing on a 1" lifting block for now..

now im not gonna be doin any hardcore offroading or towing, just want these tires and rims on the truck, my buddy wants his front tires back so, kinda need to get this done quick for now..

you're not gonna clear the fenders with those wheels and only 3" of lift...

Either way you go (3" or 5") w/ those wheels. You'll need longer control arms to clear the back bottom of the front wheel well. When you lift the frontend, the axles move back. Your probably better off returning those wheels (if possible) for a wheel w/ 5.5"-6" back spacing, no wider than 9"... Than trying to work your suspension around the wheels.

:agree2:
The 2nd Gens have less tire clearance than the 3rd Gens so wheel selection is even more critical. With those wheels and I am assuming 35's you will need a true 5-6" lift which will be far from economical especially if you want it to ride good and be done right.
