so i am in school for automotive and we have the factory scan tool so i enabled or unlocked the 3 cyl high idle but how does it work? or how do i make it go into 3 cyl idle?:confused013:
True but you can also have the trucks scanned to activate it.. if you know anyone with a smarty they can do it for you too.. Im not spending the 100 bucks to have the stealership do mine so im going to find someone with a smarty..If you want to be able to force your truck into high idle you will have to do mopar1973man did.
High idle kicks in when the IAT sees 32*, so it has to be a little cooler outside, usually less than 25* is what I have seen. For the 3 cylinder idle to kick in the IAT has to see less than 15*, so at about 10* ambient. The truck also can't be plugged in for this software to work. And lastly the coolant temp must be below 140*The high idle kicks in when it is 32* F or lower. What it does is ramp up the RPM's to around 1200 and then cuts fuel to 3 cylinders to produce more heat which warms the engine quicker.

Give them the TSB tell'em to look it up. It's unlocked with a DRB tool, and if they don't have a DRB they shouldn't be in business.i talked to my local dodge dealer and said they dont do it, wtf??
