I'm a fledgling Cummins owner and I only have enough knowledge to be somewhat competent, but when looking for things like ball joints, wheel hub bearings, shocks, etc. does it matter if the parts are labelled for 4WD or 2WD trucks? Mine is only 2WD and most parts I can find are labelled as 4WD.

Yes front suspension is totally different. Look up parts on Rockauto.

What are some commonly looked over things when working on front and rear suspension? I'm looking to replace front and rear shocks and all my front ball joints in the near future. Also, is there any parts I may as well replace while doing that?

Do it all, including wheel bearings. Try not to get Chinese junk tho.

When the shop replaced my ball joints they also did the u-joints.
Ball joints have been replaced on both drivers and passenger's front.
Just had to do the tie rods on one side and they also replaced the drag link.
All four bearings are original and they are still OK.
