I'm trying to get a proper tranny mount in the crewcab. I just bought a 2wd cummins cross member and mount from a 93 truck...but the tranny mount is not the one I thought it would be. I assumed that 2wd auto, and 2wd getrag, would share the same tranny mount. The mount that goes from the tranny to the cross member.

When I bought the crewcab someone had already slammed the cummins/NV4500 into the truck. They used hunks of channel for all the mounts. I want to put things back to as close to stock as possible. I am hoping the getrag 2wd mount will allow me to mount the NV4500 on the original 1st gen cross member.

Anyone who has done the NV4500 upgrade in their 2wd truck could you please tell me what you did for a tranny mount and cross member? And pics would be great as well.

Here is a couple pics of what I have, and what I think I'm looking for.

2wd Auto cross member and mount I just bought....

And the 2wd Getrag mount??

If anyone has a 2wd getrag mount I would be very interested in purchasing it!

I found the old listing for that E-bay mount...it was from a 91 Cummins D350 dually with a 3 speed auto...so from a 727...not 518. This would be shy the difference I think.

Can someone with a 2wd Getrag truck snap a pic of the cross member and tranny mount?

Why swap to the 4500. Its not an upgrade really, just trading one set of issues with another. A g56 or a zf6 would be an upgrade

Since it's easier to modify a stamped steel crossmember thatn a cast iron trans case, I'd look at getting a 2wd 4500 mount. My guess is it may be closer in appearance to the auto mount.

My crewcab was already converted to the NV4500 when I bought it. The builder used pieces of channel as the frame cross members. I want to convert everything to a stock/OEM style cross member....since the OEM cross members act as part of the frame when installed....and being a LONG crewcab I need all the added stiffening as possible.

Right but I'mnot talking about the whole crossmember needing replacement, just modified. What does the NV trans mount look like?

For example, manual trans Dakotas use the same/very similar mount as the autos

The 2wd tranny cross member I've been trying to figure out for my own conversion. PO swapped in the cummins, and 2wd NV4500 into my 84 crewcab. They did not re-use the stock tranny mount...rather they laid a hunk of channel across the frame, drilled some holes for the stock 2nd gen trannt mount, and then bolted it down. it works, but I would have prefered it to be more "stock".

This is my set-up right now...

I've been trying to find a better solution to this problem. I would like to use a stock 2wd cross member, and then find a tranny mount that will bolt to the NV4500, and then to the cross member and be done with it. I've been working on this problem for several weeks now with very little success.

AA states that you can use your stock cross member, with slight modification, and a GM TH350/TH400 tranny mount....Anchor 2268 I believe. I tried this and found the mount too short. It sits too low in the cross member. If the mount was about an inch taller it would work perfect for me.

4x4 conversions are simple and straight forward...simple conversion mount and your done. Figures...
