Today I bought ALFaOBD on my Android phone. It works very well on 3500 setting but not so well on 2500. It's a nice upgrade app. Runs an injector balance and will turn off/on individual injectors, as well as many other cool functions.

I bought it to check my OE injectors. I'm not having any fuel injector symptoms but it was recommended to check out the injector balance %. If/when it starts acting weird, we can pull this out and have a quick look.

For the last 190,000 miles or so we have run 8oz ATF and 8oz 2SO every fill up. At 10,000 miles we replace the fuel filters and fill the 3 micron filter with ATF and let the engine idle.

I'm not sure why it ran 1 and 4 two times. Might be an operator error.

Have you added up the cost of all those additives?

ATF is a good product that has many uses other than transmissions. The detergents in it can clean many things, even engine internals, also mixed equal parts with acetone makes the best penatrating oil.
Many people have lots of miles and time on injectors while using atf/2so mix.
I have about 25k miles using it.

What duty is most of your miles; towing, freeway, soccer mom?

I’m trying to find if that Alpha OBD will work on my 2004.5. Any thoughts? I’d like to enable the high idle feature, and do the injector test.

25% under 8k towing, lots of small 14' boat up into the mountains (90-100 times a year) 50 mile round trips with 20 of those on dirt/gravel. 10% short trips downtown, the rest inter-state to the closest city (110 miles round trip)

it will not, its a can bus interface which came in 2006.

@Alcharger Are you doing the ATF in the filter thing every 10k?

That right there (OP's post) is more evidence that the ATF thing in the injectors is not a bad thing. I'm still running just 8oz & my injectors have not blown up yet... and it continues to shine as an additive.

Never have until you asked. I use Walmart fluids.

Cost for 180,000 miles per my post = +-$650.00

During race season, we pull a 28' car hauler, <10,000 pounds, 3 times per month. Then it's a DD.

Yes, I fill the "Cat" spin on filter with ATF and let it idle awhile every 10,000 miles.

230,000 miles on original injects may be somewhat above average. The above test indicates the engine/injector health is "like" new. Tomorrow the engine might blow up. IMHO, it's worth the cost, $650 in additives.

I'm not trying to convert anyone to ATF/2SO. I'm reporting my experience. I hope your truck has equal or better results.
