The 2019 Ram 1500 is showing off its production grille, tow mirrors, and tail lights.

Spy photographers have caught the next-generation pickup testing yet again as it gets ready for its unveiling at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show early next year. Unlike its competitors, the new Ram 1500 will keep its steel body, but don’t be surprised to see certain components like its hood and doorsuse aluminum to shed weight. Expect to see coil springs with optional air suspension to continue being offered, while a larger passenger cab and new tailgate options will join the lineup.

Rumors suggest a hybrid variant and four-cylinder turbocharged engines are possibilities for the new Ram 1500, along with a more powerful V8 and even a Ford Raptor competitor.

I hope the 2500 doesn't have the same treatment. The nose of the truck is ugly. It looks like it points down with that little grille.

Of course the HD's will get the same basic treatment. They'll look different, but similar design themes.

All of the "Spy" photos show these new vehicles in the worst light. They only "test" these vehicles on 2 wheel drive platform, so we'll all say how ugly they are.
They are going to release the marketing photos with the 4x4 mid to upper range trucks, and it'll look good.
Besides, anything looks radical when it's a complete overhaul from the previous design...and then you get used to it.
We'll all be driving them in 3 to 5 years, and complaining about the next new design.
The Powerstroke forums were complaining about the new F250 design when all of the "spy" photos were floating around too...they're all driving them now (just like we'll be driving these).

Interesting observation. I didn't buy a F250 or GM because of how they look and I also bought my 2017 after seeing some of the spy shots of the new RAM and saw the styling cues which are pulled from them. It's a very complicated front end and doesn't work for my taste. I also wouldn't buy a RAM 1500 because of how the front end is so car like. Specifically around the bumper shroud. It's a shame they all follow each others design cues.
But you're probably right, some people will grow to like the look.

Yep, it'll grow on everybody.

I didn't like the 3rd or 4th gens in particular at first, LOVE both.

But the new Fords are legitimately an awful, hideous, gaudy look. Ugly is too nice.

From my experience, the problem w/ the Fords is the Powerstroke that is in them.

Yeah they screwed up the ford this time around for sure... I feel like the truck got smaller too, only difference between HD vs F150 is the HD seems to sit taller. But its a whole lot slimmer and more narrow. The dually is the only one that looks like an HD truck.

I'd almost buy a '15/'16
I had a '15 F250, and had nothing but problems.
Engine shudder at regen (delete would have cured that). Let me tell you, it would freak you out when it started shaking...did not feel healthy for the truck.
I also didn't like the way the regen worked...it rarely did passive regen; it was almost always mechanical. The mechanical regen only works while driving (not in park), and it always went into regen at the worst possible time...like a mile from pulling into the driveway or something...it flashes on your dash to let you know it's going into regen.
It also got horrible fuel mileage.
I also had electrical problems (was on the back of a flat bed 3 times the 1st year).
I traded it, before the warranty went out...too scared to keep it.
The electrical issue was probably a lemon problem...none of my other Ford buddies had those issues. That was the primary reason for getting rid of it.
The regen problem, as stated, would have been cured w/ a delete, but I didn't want to delete it, because of the electrical issues I had.
I've not had 1 problem w/ my Cummins/Ram though...very pleased.
The current model of Ram is far better looking (IMO) than the previous generation of Fords. I think the new Fords are really good looking trucks though...probably the best looking truck out there. But I think all of the current HD trucks are good looking trucks.
Ram has the most features in a work truck than any of them, and I think Cummins is the best/most efficient diesel engine out there.
Just my .02

body style has been going downhill ever since the gen 1 and 2's.
Like the Camaro and Mustang went back to classic lines, then immediately began the transformation back to a soap bubble in following years. Is it an Escort, a Mustang, a Honda???
Wish Ram would retain the lines of old.

As humans, many of us just don't like change. (At least I don't).
As to which or whose trucks look better, it's just personal opinion, and we all have them.
Just because BobSagat likes the look of the Ford, it's just his opinion which does not make it right or wrong.
IMO, I would rate the Ram as #1, the Ford as #2 and the Chevy at ...............well, #101. To me it's just fugly.

IF you like something buy it, if not buy something else you like better.

I think it was in my last order from Geno's Garage, they had something tossed in there that said: "At least Fords leave the factory with the problem circled".
I thought it was pretty funny, referring to the blue oval.
