As the title says I have a small coolant leak that I have not been able to trace for the last several days. The leak is very small and I have not noticed temperatures acting funny or the truck running any differently. My low coolant light has only come on briefly for maybe a minute or two at a time after startup on a cold morning and then goes off. I’m getting some coolant to keep her topped off in the meantime.

As for the source of the leak I am absolutely stumped. It seems to only leak after I have driven the truck and it sits and cools off. I can’t find any leaks while it is idling. I have yet to try and watch the truck after I shut it off to see if I can find the leak. I have checked radiator hoses, bypass hoses etc.. nothing up top of the engine bay seems to be the culprit.

The only place I have really found coolant around a hose or part is at the air intake duct where it goes into to the 90 elbow intake that attaches to the turbo. I have taken it off and re tightened it. Drops of coolant can also be seen on the outlet tube coming off the turbo. Coolant will also seem to accumulate beneath the oil pan on the frame as seen in the picture below.

The usually culprit (water pump) seems to be dry. I am getting it changed on a recall this Friday though so maybe it will solve my problems..

Sorry for the long post here just scratching my head at this one...I think it is something simple I just can’t seem to find the answer yet. Any ideas you guys have please let me know. Thanks! Oh and truck has egr delete kit and all emissions gone. Currently 68K miles.

Hard to tell from your description or pics.

I'd just make sure they search for the leak when they do the pump.

And, I wouldn't waste the coolant you are talking about adding, not unless the low coolant warning comes on and stays on, the coolant being a little low won't hurt anything. The dealer will drain and replace some of the coolant when they replace the pump.

And, be aware that it takes a specific coolant if you do get some to add.

Yeah I will make sure they take a look at it. Doesn’t seem serious but it is one of those annoying things that will drive me crazy until I can figure it out.

Look at this hose. Drove me nuts trying to track it down. Only leaks under certain conditions. It's above the pass side headlamp, and goes to the reservoir bottle. The T fitting cracks and will be wet if you touch under it. Leaks enough to drip in strange areas cause the wind blows as you drive, but when you park and check, all seems fine.
Part # 68212617AB.
Hope this helps.

Look at the metal line that the egr delete goes to. There’s an O ring in there that seems a lot of people, including myself, have had leak. And it’s right above where your pics are at.

Pretty sure that fitting is only on trucks with the split radiator, his is new enough to not have the split system.

I had a similar leak from my egr delete. The original kit's fitting didn't seal quite right, could pop it out by and with a little wiggle. Ended up buying the gdp fitting in the picture below to fix the issue. The gdp one uses set screws to stay sealed. Had to due some trimming to my delete bracket to get the new fitting on. No leaks since.

Update: I had the water pump replaced last Friday under recall and I have yet to see any symptoms of coolant leak. So, as for now it seems to have been the problem. Hopefully no other coolant issues arise.

Bringing this back to life because what I originally thought was my problem was not. Recently discovered where coolant was actually leaking from. Turns out it was from the water outlet tube. Picture shows spot it’s leaking from. Only leaking from bottom line. Does anyone know if this connection has an o-ring and that it maybe just failed? The solution ended up being what post #8 above said. Had to get a fitting from GDP. Finally did the trick!

Glad you figured it out. Also glad you posted the root cause here. I was about to ask if you'd had the 67,500 mile EGR cleaning service done, because my truck is leaking near the same area, but I see your truck is deleted.

I have a 16 RAM 2500 that has a coolant leak from the EGR delete stand pipe connecter where the hoses from heater core ,engine head and radiator and reervoir all come together. Where can I get this plastic connector. It leaks when not under pressure
