Yes.....the cab & chassis exhaust manifolds are indeed different than the pickup variety. Are they different from the pickup manifold? If not grab a used one from someone who swapped it out.
Are you experiencing a warpage issue in regards to exhaust gaskets leaking and sounding off like multiple bottle rockets?1. Who is the go to for 68205983AA OEM parts?
2. Any one running aftermarket BD or Dorman manifolds?
3. Why did you go from OEM?
4. Any other choices to consider?
I figured they were but I have an unused one sitting in my barn that needs a new home.Yes.....the cab & chassis exhaust manifolds are indeed different than the pickup variety.
Good chance you just need six gaskets; get the correct ones from Cummins or a dealer.I have a whistle that you can only hear when the exhaust brake is engaged, no noise or smell otherwise. It is an 8 hour job to fix, so the parts are the cheapest cost breakout of this repair and labor is the most.
You could have a machine shop skim it quick if you have a second vehicle it would not take a decent shop more than 30mins maxGoing with OEM again. I question whether the two-piece BD design will leak and Dorman has never been known for high quality.I cannot spend 8 hrs on this repair and not have the parts I need to get it back together. If it does turn out to just be a gasket or fastener issue, I will have a used manifold for sale. FYI: Cab and chassis parts are not sourced quickly, so plan on preemptive purchases if you cannot handle down time.
