Just wanted to see if anyone is running the Pure Performance Starter system or X - Factor 3" lift and towing a 5th wheel? Im looking at that lift kit but waiting for the Carli kit as well, to compare. I was just told today it will be out in a couple of weeks.

The Pure Performance says "Approximately 15% reduced payload capacity from softer rear coils."

Just wondering how that affects the stability and how much more it may sag because of the weight of the 5th wheel. I want to keep my stock 20" wheels and run 35" tires with one of those lifts but I do not want to install air bags.

The ride is pretty damn smooth now and it barely sags without air bags as is.

Maybe if you have some pics you can post them up or suggest any other 3" systems.

Adding a lift will probably create contact issues between the truck bed and 5th and/or it will be very difficult to get the 5th wheel, wheels to share the load evenly.

You might be able to do a spring over axle modification to raise the 5th wheel, but that may not work depending on model, plus the higher COG will be felt during off-camber or during high wind situations.

Just some thoughts...

I towed my fifth wheel for quite a few years with a 3" lift (lost it to a thunderstorm last year). As with any trailer, you do need to ensure that you are towing flat, but a 3" is only about 3/4'1 higher than factory in the rear unladen, and the difference will be negligible when under load. The dampening characteristics of a set of King 2.5 shocks are a welcome addition when the winds kick up, or you encounter a rough road.

So you had taller tires and a lift and were able to tow a stock 5th with no issues?

Would love to see the 5th specifications and some pictures of everything hooked up...

The trailer had an axle flip when I bought it, but it was an older trailer and didn't seem much higher than the new trailers. I'm pretty hard on stuff, so I don't buy new.

Yea and it's a 2011 camper with the axles flipped under the springs, I see no practical way to have any lift with tires and pull a fifth wheel, these trucks sit high! I am 6' 3" and have to jump to sit on the tail gate!

I tow all day long with a 3" system and 37's. Have zero issues and have never came close to the bed rails. I even towed a 43' fifth wheel pulling a 20' car hauler with a 60's ford on it from Cushing, OK to Midland, Texas.

I had some pic's on my phone but I cant seem to find them I will have to see if I can.

This is with the Carli Mini packs. It squats it pretty good but not horrible. I've pulled this fifth wheel quite a bit with both of my 2012's and the only difference in the 2 is the slt is carli equipped and the Laramie has thuren products.

I've towed a lot heavier as well and had zero issues. I wouldn't hesitate to do it all day long.

hahaha I just noticed I was in the 13 section. I have heard they 13's are a bit higher than previous models but it can't be that much. My 14 will be here in 2 weeks so I guess I will be able to tell.

Good news. I'm about to pull this with 3" coils in the front and 1" block in the rear hopefully soon.
