After getting a lot of questions in my PM inbox I thought it would be best to compile all of the radio installation pictures and details in one spot. The installation is very easy and anyone that has a little bit of wiring experience can do this without much drama. It does require that you cut a metal bracket but it does not change any dash integrity and you can still go back to the stock 3.0 radio anytime.

I installed a Kenwood DDX470 using a basic install kit and harness. We have a powered antenna so a special adapter is need. Sonic Electronix has everything you need in stock and for great prices, I suggest going there.

You will remove the top rubber piece from the bexel and use a T20 torx to remove 2 screws. Once those are out, PULL! There is not anything else holding the bezel except from plastic clips. Note- these white clips do come off so make sure you find them and reattached them before reinstalling the bezel.

Use a 9/22 socket to remove the stock radio and disconnect the harness/mini USB/sat radio/antenna.

Now you need to cut the metal bracket. My hacksaw would not work so I used the dremel, that was a bit messy but it made short work of it. Be sure not to cut wires!

Hook up wires! Be sure to ground the brake switch to chassis while you are there if you intend on doing a bed camera.

I took the time to install and wire in a bed camera. I mounted in on my toolbox and it maks hooking up to goosenecks a breeze! It may not be the coolest looking camera but it was the right price, free. If I were to buy one I would get a keyhole style. This is where it becomes necessary to ground the brake switch otherwise it will blank out when not in park.

I did wire in a license plate frame reverse camera as well but I broke the damn thing! I ordered a replacement so I will update when that comes in.

Feel free to ask questions or tell me I am dumb, I'm easy.

Part Numbers:

Headunit- Kenwood DDX470 (Your choice will vary...)
Install Kit- Metra 95-6518B
Wire Harness- Axxess XSVI-6523-NAV
Antenna Adapter- 40-EU55

The bed camera I would pick if I were buying one: CMOS-II
The brand I have is a Crimestopper but I dont know the model. THere is nothing wrong with it by any means but it is a bit intrusive and not as clean of an install as a keyhole camera.
Very interesting. Please keep us posted.

was there enough room to slide a single din in without cutting the metal piece?

The OEM radio is essentially a single din radio with a large fron front plate to fill the hole and look special. I wish I had taken a picture of it but its packed away pretty tight for long term storage. If you are really needing a picture let me know and I will be happy to pull it out.

I would say yes but since I didnt do it I cant answer for absolute certain. Metra offers a single din install kit so maybe look up their instructions?

Got the reverse camera in and installed. I am very happy with it except for that I need to find some different bolts. Not a big deal but it bugs me. The stock tailgate camera would be better but this is a cheaper option and it will do what I want. I want to be able to back straight up to a BP trailer and I want to know when I am about to back into a wall/car while parking! It is set to come on automatically once the truck is put in reverse and I was worried how that would integrate with the bed camera going into AV1. When you need the bed camera you will be in reverse! Come to find out you can put the truck in reverse and then just switch over to AV1 and it doesnt mess anything up, 2 pushes away. I figured worst case I would have to turn off the auto on when in reverse feature before going to the bed cam but this works out much better.

Camera is a BOYO BTL300 unit from Amazon, came to about $60 or so.

I hope this helps someone. I do not see me making any changes anytime soon in this area but feel free to ask any questions you have, I am happy to help.

Regarding the ball mount....What is the distance from the center of the receiver pin to the center of the ball mount???? Based on the pic, the amount of reach shown with the one you're using is ideal.

If I am reading your question right, the 'extension' is 9 3/4", from center of hitch pin to center of ball. It is a 3" drop and has a trailer height of 22".

I had to go measure if you're wondering, I'm not that sharp!

I have had this ball hitch for quite a whole now, maybe 15 years or so. I plan on getting a 2.5" hitch one day but I am in no rush. This one has been through hell.

Thats interesting, is it the same bezel?
Adapt, improvise, overcome. Great job, nicely done for a "factory" look.

Semper Fidelis!

Its the adapter for the antennae since it is powered, it may fit a couple different vehicles.
So with this install does the USB connection in flip up console still work?
The antenna adapter... It converts the regular and satellite radio antennas, both?

The install looks great! The knob for the stereo looks like it matches the interior heat knobs pretty well!!
If I buy a mini usb to usb and connect it to the mini usb in the truck harness then to the after market radio will it retain my current usb's under the radio and the center console? Also Will I lose the uconnect thing where you speak to the truck? And can I use the the oem Sirius antenna already on my truck? Thanks

Not quite, you have another connection in the aftermarket radio that the SAT adapter (if purchased) plugs into to utilize the OEM SAT antanna.

I never did follow up to plug the OEM mini into the headunit but I have read that it works fine with the right adapter. I ran the USB from the aftermarket radio to the glovebox and use that when needed, which is not often at all. I bluetooth in if I want to stream music or something.
