Greetings,

I'm considering removing the auxiliary radiator to get rid of the Y connector radiator hoses (upper Y replaced already).

I run 195° to 215° presently, as soon as fan kicks in temps drop back down to 195°-200°

Looking for confirmation she still cools fine when towing. Truck is still factory with EGR etc.

I verified 2013 & 2015 radiators are same part number.

Thanks for your time,

Jon

Is there a big reason to get rid of the auxiliary radiator ? Once the troublesome Y connectors are replaced with a quality billet Y pipe your troubles should be over . Also I would think a lot less work, and expense than removing parts .

I have a 2014 ,and replaced the upper Y pipe ,and haven't had any issues since .

I’m in the same boat, but I’d like to know the bottom Y won’t give out on a cross country trip🙄 2015’s no longer use the auxiliary radiator although the main radiator is identical 🧐

I’ve read very little about the bottom being an issue , I believe the reason is the coolant has been cooled down and and returned to the motor , doesn’t get as hot as the upper .
If concerned , kinda like the top replace it with a quality billet. I’ve never gave the bottom hose much thought , and I’ve towed heavy in 100
degrees with no problems.

No, not concerned about it getting hot ,not sure where you got that . I just replied to the OP to change out the y-pipes. I don't see any need to do anything with mine . I replaced the upper ,have had no issues with the lower .
Have a look at his first post and you'll understand my post. Looks like
I accidently replied to you. Sorry!

The lower is the same goofy plastic Y. Keep an eye on it, it's susceptible to the same failure. I replaced upper and lower with Mishimoto hoses 60k miles ago, so far so good.

I replaced both my Y’s after having a failed y on the high side. Tow all the time into the 100’s never had another issue. The hardest part is removing the radiator fluid. I am a fan of keeping the addition gallon or so the dual radiator adds.
