got in my truck earlier and turn the key to start it and it does nothing.
the dash display is showing service 4wd, and trailer brake disconnected, also the small led under the speedo is flashing. My mini max comes on and the display stays on intializing communication. It will not shift out of park either.
Ive tried my spare key and disconnected the batteries with no luck.
Dont know what else to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most no start issues that I have seen on this site are either key fob issues or battery issues.
When you see crazy stuff on the dash, it usually point to bad batteries. When the ECU on these trucks gets starved for voltage, the whole system freaks out.
Check your connections as well as your batteries.

well the truck defiantly has enough battery to start because i ran a hot wire to the starter solenoid and started the truck with the key on the run position and it started no problem , ran for about 5 seconds then died. turn the key off then back on and jump the solenoid again does the same thing. I have been searching the internet for similar problems and seen people mention the (win) module which i assume is the actual ignition so guess i will be calling the dealership tommorow.
Bad thing is cant even return it to stock programming because the mini maxx never gets past initializing communication, so they will probaly reflash my truck and then that will be another issue.

Well truck is at the dealer and they called and said that the ecm is not communicating with the rest of the truck. I had taken the mini max out even though i couldnt return the truck to stock but told them the truck had a programmer in it. He siad that maybe if they put the programmer back in the truck they could possibly recover the ecm programming. If not he said new ecm at 1900 dollars. He said the ecm is pretty much responding as blank. Is it true that they cannot reprogram the ecm? It seems that all ecm's wpuld begin as blank but i may be wrong.

Well you'd think they could re flash and problem solved but again that leads the problem with the MM. I'd like to hear what h&s techs have said before if they have heard of this problem and what causes that.

Sorry to hear about your luck & hope the impact to your family and/or business is minimal. I am neither in the industry nor an expert, but here are a few ideas I would at least try before I gave the dealer $1,900:

- Disconnect the pos and neg cables from both batteries. Find all of the exterior ground jumpers (chassis to engine block, block to ECM, etc.). Take each ground loose, wire brush both the lug and attachment points, and reconnect them.

- Have both batteries tested.

- Service Manuals appear to be no longer available, replaced by online troubleshooting. Here is a link to a 2008 Service Manual, which may be of some help. CarboniteCummins - Articles
In the rear of this manual is a complete listing of DTCs. I was under the impression the MM can read codes?

- If all else fails, you can pay $30 for a 3-day subscription to TechAuthority for online troubleshooting.

In general, I simply do not believe an ECM goes "completely blank" while sitting in your driveway. The fact that the truck starts & dies when straight-wired is a duplicate of my experience with euro car engine swaps when there is an anti-theft system fault.

Good luck and please keep us posted.

Well called H&S and went pick my truck up from the dealer.
Sending them my ECM and tuner and there going to fix it for me.
I can not tell you how glad i am that there is a company like H&S
and the tech guys there that have a solution for my problem unlike
the dealership who just wants to change parts.

Not trying to start anything, but you have a 2011 that should be under warranty, unless you have 36,000 miles on it already....Why would the dealership charge you $1900? Problem is with keyfob I'm assuming, or ECM, should be covered under 3/36,000 warranty from what I've just researched. Are they charging you because you had a tune on the truck and they're "assuming" tune may have had something to do with ECM not functioning correctly. Again, just trying to figure out why dealership was going to charge you...sounds to me like they did try and even was going to have you put the programmer back in to see if it's connected with your main issue....Will keep checking this out. I've not had any issues with the keyfob and this was first I'd heard of this issue.

On edit..Let us know if H-S actually fixes your problem...can't understand why they can and a Dodge tech can't, (though, don't get me wrong, there are some really incompetent techs out there. Is HS acknowledging that their tuner caused the issue, thus the reason they've offered to fix your problem and are doing it for free?
