Hey Guys, I hope I’m posting this in the right area. If not I apologize.

I have a 2011 2500 6.7 Laramie Longhorn. Truck is deleted with H&S programming. About 2 months ago the truck overheated. I changed the thermostat (Genuine Mopar Part) and bled the colling system and truck was running like a champ. A month later the truck overheated again while driving on the highway.pulled over and the temperature dropped. Kept driving and the truck ran perfect for a few weeks and it started again. Took it to the mechanic and they flushed the colling system. Fan clutch is ok, no leaks. No oil in the rad and no water in the oil. I have seen bubbles in the res tank. Long story short the truck has a mind of its own. It pretty much overheats when it wants too.

Bubbles in the overflow.. sounds like you have a blown head gasket to me. Is you egr cooler removed? What settings are you running on the mini? But with the bubbles its probably head gasket.

I believe it could be the egr cooler leaking internally. Not 100% on that. If you have bubble in the overflow pressure is making it's way in. With out bubbles it could have just been air trapped in the system.

Maybe I should take it too dodge and pay the diagnostic fee.
Does your heat work off and on?
Does your coolant bottle over flow?
Does it return to normal level?
What temp swings are you seeing?
What settings are you running?
Timing
Power level and hopefully no Defuels.

I had the same issues with a 2011. EGR cooler is where to start. Can test yourself using compressed air. Mine had been "bullit proofed" (ARP head bolts after a cracked head). Worked great for 300,000 miles then started acting like yours. Never completely figured out due to fire caused by leaking hydro-boost. I still have "new" fan clutch, radiator and water pump (from Mopar - still in boxes) I'll make you a deal on. Was going to try all that before pulling the head. You can rule out the head with a "block test" kit. Are you having to put water in the radiator "at all"?

Had the same issue. Turned out to be the egr cooler. I tested the old one and new one myself to be sure. Here's a few pictures of mine in case you wanted to try it yourself. Old one failed at 28psi. New one tested to 50 psi.

Definitely test the easier things first such as testing the EGR.

On my 07.5 the coolant recovery bottle would fill with coolant and overflow only when the truck was working hard such as towing a trailer up a grade. I took it to the dealer and they checked the radiator for exhaust gases, it didn’t test positive, so they put on a new higher pressure radiator cap. A second visit had them ?? as they couldn’t reproduce the problem. I had another shop pull the head and found the HG was not blown but you could see where it was leaking between 5 & 6. The mechanic that pulled the head told me that when he was removing the head bolts some of them didn’t feel tight enough. A new HG & ARP studs fixed the problem.

Good luck
