How many miles are on your truck ? I realize its stock , but with high mileage some new parts might help you out some .

It probably is filter time . Wouldnt hurt to add some additional filtering also , its never to late for bonus filters .

As long as you are mechanically inclined, have the right tools and pay attention to detail, you should have no problem doing it yourself. It can be a little intimidating if you haven't done it before but if you have patience and go step by step its really not very difficult. Should only take a couple hours for a first timer. There is a post somewhere on this forum with very well written instructions and photos (thank you again to whoever made that post!) Just do a search and it should pop up.

There is a tool that you insert into the bell housing to turn the engine over with a 3/8"s ratchet it makes the job very easy. I'm sure there are cheaper versions, but this is the one I use.YA9565A, Engine Turning Tool

Still cheaper than paying a shop to do it for you.
