Well I have to say I do really like the interior and the look of the new truck. But my 2006 cummins 5.9 I just traded in was a great truck. It seemed like it had much more power (stock other than cat delete and intake) than the new truck. The throttle response was great in the old truck as well. The 2006's steering was spot on and the new one is all over the road. It is almost scary at times on the freeway. I am worried I got rid of a great truck for one that I am going to want to get rid of in a year.

old truck was a 2006 quad cab 2500 cummins, 4 inch tough country lift with 17 inch wheels and 315 70 17 BFG at's.

new truck is a 2010 mega cab 2500 cummins, 4 inch superlift with 18 inch wheels and 35 12.5 18 toyo mt's

I only have about 300 miles on the truck now with lift and with out. I hope it gets better and the steering is a fixable problem. I will do all the deletes if I keep the truck long enough to get out of warranty.

How do you guys feel about your trucks so far. Please don't flame me I just am worried about the problems I am having with the truck so far. thanks

I traded a 3500 srw mega 4x4 on my new 2010 dually in my sig. I agree that the 06 had better throttle response, but my 2010 has more power overall. My 2010 steering is great....I would look into what happened when the lift was installed.

Got to think lift has to do with poor steering.

I also traded 06 for 10. 06 was 48re and 10 has G56. My preference! Both trucks hold the road very well.

06 had smart jr, exhaust, intake. YES, she was snappy off the line and got 19, 20 mpg highway, all day long!! The only thing I miss about the 06!!

But the 10 sure is fancy inside. Just putting some miles on it, expensive ones at that, to ensure no major problems, then off with the trash. Really only wanting a Smart Jr for programmer and not willing to pay twice as much for the HS MM. Since Smart Jr not available yet, just running stock. 14.5, 15 highway empty.

Really like the 10. But, G56 seems like cheap trans compared to my first Dodge, a '99. It had a NV4500 5 sp man, which I ran 7 yrs and it was smooth as silk! I loved that truck!

Good luck in getting your truck straightened out. I wouldn't want to live with poor steering, and something not right after the lift job.

My .02 cents....

I traded in on 06 mega 2wd 3500 srw for a 2010 drw 4x4. My 06 did seem peppier but rode like a Sherman tank compared to my new one. Both were autos and my 2010 changes gears like a Buick. I think the older ones seemed faster bc it didn't have the exhaust crap and you could actually hear the engine doing it's thing. The new ones are way quieter. I'm gonna let mine get some miles on her an pull the emissions crap off. I had to throw that power train warranty too soon. Also if agree the steering problems are probably related too the lift

I had a 99 4x4 2500 w/ NV4500 that I thought had a ton of power. I had a Edge programmer, bigger turbo, exhaust, intake and CAI. Then I bought an 06 dually 4x4 w/G56 6 speed that stock was more powerful than my 99 and got worse mileage. I had a Smarty on the 06. Now I have a 2010 dually 4x4 auto, 4.10 gears that definitely out pulls my 06 and gets worse mileage than the 06. Which tells me that fuel makes horsepower. All 3 of these trucks were not and are not daily drivers. All 3 have pulled 40+' toyhaulers, with either a sandcar or Jeep in the back, weighing in at 30k GVWR. We just got back from a Colorado trip pulling a toyhauler with a 5k lb Jeep inside it. My 2010 way outpulls my 06 that had the Smarty in tow mode.
