2004 3500 w/ loose automatic shifter on the column

I'm pretty sure I'm buying the 2004 3500 Cummins in my other thread...however, the shifter on the column is a lot looser and moves much more freely than the one did on my 06 1500 hemi...is this normal?:confused013:

I guess I should be more specific...it goes down through the ranges/gears (R,N,D etc) much more easily/freely than my 06 hemi.
