I recently picked up a 2003 3500 dually with 76k miles, all stock except for a Smarty Jr. tuner. I have a couple of questions.

1. what filter set up should I run for extra fuel filtration and water separation?

2. I think the 03 has the 48RE transmission? How often do you guys change your fluid?

3. It seems like stock intake and exhaust don't hamper performance?

:welcome:
1. A Baldwin pf-7977 in the stock filter location does well with WS.
A 2 mic GDP filter kit under the hood also does well. Where your lift pump is located will play into your choice.
2. Don't have one, So can only follow the severe guidelines in the owner's book.
3. Correct a non-issue till over 500HP

I have a 2500 -03 and my truck has a 47RE (I think both 47RE and 48RE existed -03)
If you rebuild the 47RE you can upgrade it to be as strong as 48RE, if that is not done you should be carefull with your smarty.
You could also uprade the TC to engage harder and a better lock up.
