Hey yall, I have just ran into a problem with my 2001 24v. I am in school right now getting my degree in diesel technology and I had my truck in the shop yesterday fixing a few small things that I still had left to do after I completed my NV4500 swap(reverse lights and cruise control) back in March. Anyway, when I went home yesterday it seemed that my idle was lower than normal and I noticed that the truck did not want to go over 2000 RPMs. But it quit this by the time I hit 4th gear and didnt bother me anymore until just about an hour ago. Now it don't want to go above 2000RPM in neutral, it sounds like it hits a rev limiter. Its not showing any codes other than the ones from my missing 47RE. I am confused, Ive seen other people have the similar problem with the 2000 RPM limiter but I haven't found an answer for mine.

first check codes.
Second my first guess would be bad apps.

Either APPS or check the MAP sensor. I left mine unplugged on accident one time and I couldn't get the RPMS up. Check all codes and fuel pressure.

Thanks for the replies guys. I drove it to work and back today and it does fine in 3rd 4th and 5th gears and just falls on its face in 1st and 2nd. I thought it may be a clogged fuel filter but now I'm not so sure.

i just swapped my auto for the 4500. mine does the same thing too. all you need to do is take it to the dealer or get a smarty and reflash it to a manuel truck. odd thing about mine is it does it all the time when the fuel level is low. hasnt bothered me much just havent had time to reflash it yet.

I had a 1998.5 24v i fried the comp with a smarty. Got a used one off ebay that was from and auto and it did this randomly until i had the dealer reflash it for my truck. I believe they charged me 150$ to do so
