ok i did it i bought a 2000 with a 53 block ( no crack ) its got 140 k miles ...engines runs good ...no smoke ...stock truck automatic .. everthing work .. eccept door looks and cruise control ... drove 165 miles home today ... runs great at 65 or 70 mph .. but at 60 she slows down by herself .. let off accel and push it down she speeds up .. no codes on odometer ... has original lift and injection pump ...slight lope at idle at 800 rpm tach drops maybe 10 or 20 rpm ..can hear slight sound difference .. sounds and runs a lot like my 2002 ... but the best part i think is i paid 2500 for it .. what do you guys think

you will probably go to hell for that...stealing trucks... I paid 4500 for a 2000 2500 with a bad IP and thought I stole it. Sounds like you may need to set aside $1000 for an IP though.

The odometer trick only works on 01-02 trucks, you need to get a scanner and scan the truck via the OBD-II port. If it is slowing down while the pedal is depressed 2 of the most likely causes are a bad APPS or failing VP, scan the truck first before worrying about saving for a VP.

yea thank s ill dig into apps sensor first .. second im getting a new lift pump .. will need it anyway .. thank for the encouragement .. i thought 2500 for a running truck was good i just want to make a daily driver close to stock good mpg truck

if you need a vp44 talk to jkidd, he is the cheapest vendor around for them.

as for 53 block. no crack, don't worry bout it. mine has over 220k and no crack.

you stole that truck!!!

I paid like 14k for mine a couple years ago.

put about that much into it since in repairs and power adders :doh:

From what I have saw that truck in my area prob would of went for 3 or 4 times as much as what you paid. About the 01-02 key trick I dont understand why it started that late. Hell my 98 dakota was able to do that. I know it started in 97 when the 2nd gen daks came out. :confused013:
