I just purchased a 2006 QC 2500 4x4 with 52k miles. Its has 275/65/20 (34") alum wheels and tires with a front level kit. The only power mod I can find is 4" turbo back with a muffler. This truck is only transportation for me, no hauling or towing. My reason for purchase is improved economy, if I can improve my overall mileage by 3-4 mpg over my gas truck, would save me a couple hundred per month. I filled up and drove 305 mile about 60 city and rest hiway @ about 70-72 mph. The idiot console read 19.7, i thought I had hit the lottery. Low and behold when I filled up, 16.2 mpg. I ordered a smarty jr. today. What other mods would you all suggest for economy? I dont care about power (although i realize that effiency means power along with economy) the increase in power would just be a welcome benefit. I dont mind spending a little cash if it would result is realistic economy gains. I love the truck, I just finished installing an RER mygig, but am a little frustrated with the MPG. From reading on here for 3 months i expected better MPG.

Buddy thier is lots of thing you can do to help out your MPG. The biggest one and I know its hard is SLOW DOWN! If you go more than 68mph with 373 gears your out of your max mpg range. Keep your RPM's below 1900, any thing over that and your MPG goes down. At 55mph on the high way you will get low to mid 20's. Do an air intake, exaust and a programmer and your good. Then look into Amsoil to save you hundreds in maintence and will also help with fuel economy.

Check out my sig for mods. You stock airbox is fine. CAI won't help milage. A lot just let in hot air which reduces power and economy. PSM buick airbox mod or home depot mod, cool hose, and intake horn will help a little. Smarty JR will make the most difference. Drive slow or drive by your gauges ie keep egts and boost down. Don't add grill guards bug defletors etc.

You hit the nail on the head.

Def. keep those rpm's under 1900, more like under 1700, and you will see a nice increase in your mpg's.
