the common rails do hang the rpms when you rev them and let off quickly because they idle with 6-7000# rail pressure and when you stab the throttle it can go as high as 25000# and when you let off quickly the high pressure in the rail takes a few seconds to bleed off.. i have never seen one idle perfectly smooth even with new injectors, if you have a stock exhaust the converter can make them smell funny. i find my 07 smells different than my older dodges but they all had aftermarket exhausts, this one is stock for now
