Im new to this site and im currently looking at a 1st generation 250 cummins in my town. I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction, knowing what to look for or if the truck is even worth it. From what i see on the out side of the truck there is a small amount of rust near the rear tires on the bed of the truck. Im hopefully going for a test drive tommorow. -Thanks mike.

Rust around the rear wheel wells is very normal as long as by the door sills and in the rain gutter over the windshield, just look for any leaks or cracks, these trucks run a very long time so miles is not really a biggy but a good going over is always in your best interest, hope this helps.

No problem, $1600 w/ plow is not a bad gig, i bought mine from my grandfather and then completly restored it and then sold it for my 06' then sold my 06' for my 08' I really didnt get to involved with my first trucks engine other than cranking the star wheel (smoke) and adding 5" tbe but here is a pic the day i sold it.

89' was non intercooled, i think 91 was when they introduced that. Cant really think of anything else.

I drove the truck yesterday it's a 92. The truck seems to be in decent condition considering it has 209000 miles, The blemishes i saw were 3 rust spots on the outside and the steering wheel was loose.

no pics sorry. but i offered 1200 and he said ok. Im debating wether to take it or not just because if i get it i want to paint it, replace break lines, and remove rust off the frame. And im not exactly sure how much that will cost me. But other then repairing the truck. The powertrain seems to be good.

Even if you don't want to fix it, a good running Cummins will get you just about $1200. You could part the rest of the truck too.

anyway i bought the truck and i cant wait to start doing stuff to it. Im looking into putting 325 65 18 (mickey thompsons ATZ) from my f-150 on the ram 250. Does anyone know if i could clear those tires with a leveling kit. I would rather sell the tires if they didnt fit and put the biggest tires that could possibly fit.-Thanks mike

Congrats. If it runs you didn't get hurt by it. Its worth what you paid.
