Hi guys, I have 98 12v that came with a command start, but it is in need of rewiring to say the least. Anybody able to I.D. this unit? Thanks!
Thats a crappy tire special the module is most likely the issue some can be fixed but if its all wired in still you can just buy a new one and plug it in and program the fobs
Small box will be either the bypass module or for the 2 way remoteYa its Prostart the main problem is there are 2 boxes the main one and a smaller one, all the wires to the smaller one have broken off and I cant tell what goes where, I found manuals for it but none show the smaller box.. ANND it gets deadly cold where I live I wanna have command start lol
Idling with an exhaust brake on can also warm up the engine, but I agree, just idling at normal idle speed would take FOREVER to get the engine warm enough to have heat in the cab.Remote start on a diesel won’t do much in the way of warming up the cab before you climb in…..at least in my experience it’s always taken a few miles of driving to warm up the cab….unless you have a high idle setup
the neg pulse thing , might be that 5-3 pin unit? It's hard to tell from your pictures but what isn't working? Is it locking and unlocking? Is it starting or not starting? Our trucks do have negative pulse at the ctm for lock and unlock but you generally need to five wire relay these.
That remote starter is a really shitty unit. It does not have very high current capabilities and our trucks draw a lot of current when they start.
The only thing you should need to get the truck started is first and second ignition, the starter, and a long enough crank time. We don't have any kind of security on the truck.
This is the wiring for your vehicle, take a look and see if it corresponds.

There are broken wire ends in all of them tho, just no insulation left to tell what colorSmall box will be either the bypass module or for the 2 way remote
It does not look like they were ever connected which is a large possibility as you dont always need all the wires
Got it on my bench and its alive! So idkIt's hard to tell from your pictures but what isn't working? Is it locking and unlocking? Is it starting or not starting? Our trucks do have negative pulse at the ctm for lock and unlock but you generally need to five wire relay these.
