If you google the model number in the picture you posted, it comes up as a ProStart.

For your new used '98 12V, remove the remote start and leave it off.
You are going to have much bigger issues to deal with on a 25 year old used truck!

Best of luck with the truck!

Small box will be either the bypass module or for the 2 way remote
It does not look like they were ever connected which is a large possibility as you dont always need all the wires

Remote start on a diesel won’t do much in the way of warming up the cab before you climb in…..at least in my experience it’s always taken a few miles of driving to warm up the cab….unless you have a high idle setup

Hi guys, I did a post a few days ago about trying to get command start working but no dice. I think its fried two power wires (live i checked 20 times) going in none coming out. IDK still couldnt find much online, But here is my diagram of what I could trace in truck and youtube and everywhere. I had 6 pin and 5 pin working but the twelve pin and that weird little box that doesnt exist escape me

It's hard to tell from your pictures but what isn't working? Is it locking and unlocking? Is it starting or not starting? Our trucks do have negative pulse at the ctm for lock and unlock but you generally need to five wire relay these.

That remote starter is a really shitty unit. It does not have very high current capabilities and our trucks draw a lot of current when they start.

The only thing you should need to get the truck started is first and second ignition, the starter, and a long enough crank time. We don't have any kind of security on the truck.

This is the wiring for your vehicle, take a look and see if it corresponds.

Idling with an exhaust brake on can also warm up the engine, but I agree, just idling at normal idle speed would take FOREVER to get the engine warm enough to have heat in the cab.

I would recommend buying a newer more modern system. Either a compustar or an older directed product. The new DS4 products from directed do not have wait to start wires on them, so you're forced to use a timer
