Recently ran into and issue with my truck that the brake lights are not working. The turn signals, reverse lights, and tail lamps work. I've replaced the the brake switch and know that it is not the problem. My brake controller lights up at the press of the brake pedal. Brake switch has a constant power from the blue/pink wire. Fuse is good. This might get confusing but I found a power wire on the connector in the front driver fender well. It is a white/brown wire that only gets power when the pedal is pressed. Traced it all the way to the back and it doesn't go to anything(leads me to believe it is the factory trailer brake wire) I can run a jump wire from it to the left turn signal wire and get brakes and a right turn blink, no left turn blink. Also I can jump it to the right turn signal and get brake lights as well as a left turn, no right turn. I have heard about the multifunction switch going bad. And I figured if i had a turn signal I should have a brake since its one wire! Just real confused. I would like to confirm it would be the multifunction switch before I just go and buy one. Thanks for your help!

You'll have to get into the details. Pin outs are in the FSM. See if 01 and 98 switches are the same then download the 01FSM. Links are on this site.

You may have a broken wire or dirty connections where the bulbs plug in. Did you change the bulbs?

the factory multi function switch links the left and right turn signals at the switch and ties them into the brake switch. the brake light signal is carried to the back of the truck via the turn signal wires. i would clean the multifuction switch connectors, and see if that helps.

otherwise i think you need a multifunction switch replacement.

It is not the bulbs or wiring in the rear if the turn signals are working. They are one and the same in the rear. Both circuits go through the Multifunction switch(turn signal switch) Dodge is not a Toyota.
