Could anyone tell me why my rear end is doing this and what the best way to fix it would be. Only spins 1 tire on pavement and on dirt. One tire ussally the drivers side spins fast and the other seems like it’s slipping. Other side will start then stop while other side is spinning. Also when I engage 4x4 still only spins the one rear. Just wondering what I should look into. Thanks

Take the cover off and check to see if it's a open differential, probably needs the oil changed anyway.

Your best choice is to work on your driving skills so you don't keep spinning your tires. If you really must have that 2nd tire spinning, then swap out the rear with a low budget used limited slip takeout or spend some coin and get a heavy duty locking differential to put in your axle. You have a few choices like Detroit Locker, Torsen, Powertrax on the lower end. Then when taking a corner in the rain you can slide out the rear when the boost kicks in.

The sticker in the glove box, if readable will say when the diff is, code DSA is limited slip, called antispin.

Going by Dana, it's either a Trac-lok or a Powr-lok.... unless it's just an open diff. Between wear and additive, it may have lost it's effectiveness. I would try a fluid change first.

I prefer a Lockright/Powertrax over the stock limited slip. These fit into an open differential carrier.

The sticker on a '97 is under the hood, next to the latch.

OK I remember that for a year or two. Same sticker and codes though.

No need to decipher codes with the hood sticker, it just says the words on it. The below example is from a 96.
