hey every. First of all I want to say that I am no 4th gen expert. Just recently I have been researching as much as I can to understsnd them better..

What are some true pros and cons between the two.. I understand that the 10-12 can do deleted and more is out for them right now... Assuming all deleted will eventually come

The DEF fluid is my only concern with a 14. Should I be concerned about this vs a 10-12? Will there eventually be a fluid delete for them?

Are there any benifits a 14 carries that 10-12 owners wish they had?

The more locked ecms of a 14. In a power perspective is this something I need to stay away from if I like to mod my truck?

Again I am still going to research as much as i can.. I currently have my down payment ready i just need to find the perfect truck for me.

Thanks cf

when they eventually make deletes for them that would include the deletion of the DEF. You will get better mileage stock vs stock in a 14 because of the use of DEF

My 12 was in the body shop for 18 days, and they gave me a '14 with a 5.7L hemi. I wasn't impressed by the coils in the rear, nor the new front suspension. I think My truck rides just as nice and were I really noticed it was out in the woods, the new front suspension was a little harsh, Im happy with the 12 and wouldn't want to upgrade to the 14, but thats my $.02

My personal truck is a 12 and for work they leased 2014 2500 dodges with the Cummins. I really hate to say it but I like my 12 a lot better than the new 14. I really don't like the suspension handling and ride on the 14 plus they got rid of the engine temp gauge, battery and one of the other gauges that I use a lot on my 12. Pretty much the only thing I can say they did better on the 14 is the fuel mileage is great, BUT the fuel tank seems to be smaller.

I won't be getting rid of my 12 any time soon.

OP,

I think you'll get a better response if you ask this question in the 2013+ section. There are many members who've owned both the 10-12 truck and a 2013+ truck. I could write you a list many pages long about the benefits of a 2010-2012 truck. Best truck I've ever owned and works perfect for my needs. That said, I'd be lying if I tried to tell you about the 2013+ trucks since I don't own one, have never ridden in one or even seen the interior.

Good luck in your truck search. I can tell you with all honesty that my Sig truck is by far the best truck I've ever owned. I've had it for over three years and the truck is still like new. No squeaks or rattles and I haven't had any problems with it.

OP, Im not trying to say I wouldn't buy a '14, but I wouldn't take the bath on my truck by trading it in to get a new one, its not a better truck, and its not a worse truck. I think its more that after reading all the reviews from the guys that own them, my expectations were really high. With that being said, you would be fine regardless which model year you buy. Good luck in your desicion.

My 2012 has been great. Only issue was a replaced dash mounted brake controller, last April, under warranty. No check engine light, in 20,000 miles. If down the road is like from Aug. 2012 to now, I'm in for a great ride. I have not looked at trucks at dealerships since I purchased my 2012. I'm pleased with what I got.

One other downfall to the '14 is no option of 3.73 in the 3/4 tons. I think the 3.42 is why they better fuel economy more than the def, but I may be wrong on that.

10-12 or 14

Your better off if you have truck without DEF. I test drove a 14 and it didn't impress me my 2010 has just as much power if not more and a better ride. But each to his own. Test drive them and see for yourself. It's probably the best way :confused013:
