Ok, so my 06 had the 1-2 shift shuttle so today I replaced the solenoid and a new gasket. Replaced 4 qrts and then took for a test drive. FIXED the 1-2 shift issue but when I got closer to the house I stopped at a stop light and it felt like the truck was still trying to pull ( like holding down the brake and throttle at the same time). When you let off the brake the truck will pull forward quickly and then after about 2 seconds the engine will idle back down. and its normal. checked the fluid and it was low. Had to add 3 more qrts to get back to max fill line!! Thought that was the problem but it didn't help. truck is still trying to intermittently keep pulling when I come to a stop. HELP?!?!?!?:confused013:

Also if you shift back into park while the trans is in drive and it pulling while at a stop the engine rpms rev up and then drop back down.

I dropped the pan on mine yesterday, 48re, and replaced almost 2.5 gallons of fluid, you need to check the level on the dipstick with engine running, trans in neutral, e brake on !

yeah thats some BS that the fluid level after pan drop took WAY more that 4 qrts but I'm freakin out over the strange tranny behavior.

Sounds like what mine did, my converter blew and was permanatly locked. If you would come to a stop the truck would try to keep going, then when you would let off the brake if was like a mini-power brake, it would take off. Also when you were switching between reverse, neutral and drive, it would almost bang out of gear as if you popped it into drive while giving it a little gas

do you have a double deep pan? i think the acoount for almost 3 or 4 more quarts. I think mine took 5 or 6 quarts with a new tranny filter, your 10 quarts sounds like alot

Could be Converter Lockup clutch dragging. Could also be an engine problem (too high idle). The rev up in neutral could be idle regulator compensating for extra drag. If it is the converter clutch dragging it'll soon burn out, so have it checked soon.

no double deep pan yet, that goes on next week......... had it running and in neutral while adding the last 4 to make sure I did not overfill too much.

The truck didn't act up at all today so now im confused. I dont know if it would be the torque convertor lock up clutch dragging or the engine not returning to idle? Im not sure how I would check either if it happens again. Its feels more like the engine not wanting to idle completely down.

sounds like a similar symptom but not as severe to have it bang into gear.

that makes the most sense but how would you check it? I dont know how only a short trip down the highway would be enough to damage the lockup clutch. with 3 qrts low.

Running low on fluid will cause some funky shifting ect. I did the same thing . Dropped pan changed filter and only put in 4 quarts. Down the road and back and added another one, then another ect.

You could have defiantly damaged the converter clutch running even down the street that low on fluid

I have also seen the screens on the lockup solenoids get clogged with particles and metal, thus clogging the TCC solenoid and not letting the transmission release the converter clutch.

Or you might have a TCC solenoid sticking, you have to change the 2 together, OD and TCC come as a pack

All that makes sence but I can't figure out why it was doing it and now its not two days later.

Driving it around with even 1 quart low on fluid can damage the clutches

So you could have smoked the clutches enough to cause the solenoids to clog

Or you could have broken the connector or wires going into the TCC and OD solenoids
They are the flat wire connector right behind the block where the gov solenoid is located.
