I have searched this site and several others for hours, but I cannot find the answer to my specific question. I have deleted/removed the egr on my 07. I have also removed the throttle valve gear. I do not have a tuner yet. I have read that the normal position for the tv on an 07 is closed, but on later models it is open. Should I have removed the gear from my tv or will this cause problems?
Please help, I can't afford a damaged truck.

Open it, the throttle valve is there to force the engine to pull in the exhaust gases from the egr before drawing fresh air. Since you deleted the egr you'll want the fresh air flowing freely as the engine needs it, I guess since you removed the gear that the valve should move freely so in theory it would probably open and close as you go but i can't say for sure. Shibby Engineering make a piece that replaces just the valve or you go to aFe or others that a complete replacement intake horn

just my .02

Thanks for the reply. The butterfly valve is spring loaded with a fairly stiff spring. I wasn't sure if it should be opened or closed. I'll take it apart and either remove it or make sure it is open. Thanks again

Key off the butterfly is in the open position.
Key on the butterfly closes and then is controlled by the ecm.
With the gear removed it should stay in the open position.
If you've unplugged the egr valve actuator then the ecm MAY try to close the butterfly to draw more egr gas but won't be able to. It it may cause some problems or it may be ok.
I've been running 2 years with the actuator unplugged and TCV plugged in with no problems. I had the cold surging issue for about 6-9 months but the ecm finally learned not to mess with it.
Yours probably will too.

I removed mine entirely so I didn't have it under the hood

No need to remove the TCV if its not causing any problems.
Why spend the $$$ for little or no performance gain. Sure an intake or cnc'd TCV replacement looks pretty but I can think of other things to spend the $$$ on.

I bought the aFe intake to put my boost gauge in and so i had the ports for water/meth in the future.... that saves the drilling and tapping for now
