My 06 78re has had troubles up shifting into 2nd, for a while now and i had replaced a governor switch and selenoid motor. Inside the tranny and still having troubles . The weird thing is if i peddle it into 2nd it drives totaly perfect trough all the rest of the gears. I had acouple a places look at it and then recomended me to the dealer. So I whent to the dealer AKA RIP OFF CENTER And thats what they tried to do. So for the past month Ive been takeing it easy on it and now IVE somehow lost PARK??????????

I am no expert but to me it sounds like maybe your gear shift linkage has come loose somewhere. park has nothing to do with any valve bodies. park should work no matter what unless you threw it into park while moving and sheered the dog gear. your troubles could be that the linkage is off and not shifting gears properly due to the valve body not being all the way set into one gear or another so it isn't getting full pressure from the fluid. It happened to me once in my trans am long ago. I had to drop the pan and all my linkage was just laying there. got it all back together and ran like a champ. good luck. I hope it is that simple.

i just fixed a truck with the second gear problem on friday, wound up being the front band was burnt and could not be adjusted. if you remove the pan, check the front band adjustment, if you can pull it down and it moves more than approximately 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch, that's probably the problem. also check the drum, for signs of excessive heat(blue marks). As for park make sure the e-clip for the park shaft didn't come off. hope this helps.
