06 5.9 weird high idle

hi guys new to the cummins previously the proud owner of a 06 6.0.... lol and so far love the truck its got a afe cold air 4inch tbe and a built trans. As far as ik it dosnt have a tune the previous owner had a smarty on it but took it off when he sold it and had a buddy lend me a sw06 for about 2hr lol and it loaded up the smarty tunes so not sure if it would have loaded the tune if it already had one on it? Its back to stock now but since its gotten cold out and the truck has gone up into high idle its been making a weird sound almost like a loap some times? Ive had multiple shops look at it no codes are being thrown and the shops say its not the injectors. So do you guys have any ideas? possiably the cp3? Have changed the fuel filter too and oil changed still hasnt removed the problem and other then this weird high idle the truck runs really strong. If you need any more info ask away im sure im missing something. Thx for any help Joe

If it is only when it's on high idle then it's normal. Some trucks do it some don't.

Same here nothing to worry about, diesel mechanic buddy of mine says its normal so that's what I'm going with.

mine lopes just idling without the AC on and it doesn't when it is on. Never had it high idle though, that FL life!

40 is my high today and then back down to the 20s for highs all week here. I'm pretty sure my truck does the same thing

The lope in high idle is just the ECU evenly splitting the injection events instead of doing a pilot and main event. Supposed to aid in quick engine warm up.

Why im thinking of it anyone got any recommendations on who to go to for efi? Been looking at anarchy

Thanks for the info guys. Mine's done it too the last few days at 15-20 degrees...I thought the engine had something wrong with it as it wasn't anything like the high idle on my 6.7

My 2006 5.9L did the high idle for the first time earlier last week. it was in the 30's. It kinda worried me too, but I've since read many comments confirming that this is normal.
