Has anyone resolved their issues with their trucks dying on them while driving? I have a 2005 5.9L 2500 Ram that we bought used 2 years ago. It’s run fine up until this summer. On a hot day if I have to drive for longer than about 20 minutes, my truck will just randomly die on me. If I’m going fast (above 45 or so), it will catch itself immediately and restart. But once it’s started stalling/dying, if I have to slow down to come to a stop, it will die completely and I have to restart. It restarts just fine but if I have to keep driving slowly and stopping, it dies every time I come to a stop. It throws a P2509 code and we’ve checked the batteries, cables, connections, and every wire we can see and they’re all good. Any other suggestions on where to start? Again, it only happens when it’s hot outside (above 80 degrees).

P2509
Loss of voltage detected at the ECM for a calibrated amount of time.
Possible Causes
POOR CONNECTIONS AT THE BATTERIES
LOW BATTERY VOLTAGE
OPEN FUSED B+ TO ECM
OPEN GROUND CIRCUIT
BATTERY + SHORTED TO OTHER CIRCUITS
RETURN CIRCUIT SHORTED
BATTERY + SHORTED TO GROUND
INTERMITTENT CONDITION

If your sure batteries are good, cables good, including grounds then I would check B+, battery supply to ecm , bolted lug connection on side of fusebox, PDC, closest to engine side of PDC, usually under black plastic cover, that wire feeds ECM, should have good 12.6 battery voltage at that connection/clean/tight.
Then check fusible link and splice connection in that circuit, that circuit branches/splice off to 3 pins on rear most connector of ecm, connector C2, pins 20,30,40 should all have good 12 volt power, and verify ECM connectors are secure clean connection including grounds.

I just started to experience the same thing. I have a 07 Dodge with the 5.9. I'm drive on vacation and my dash starts doing funking things. The rpm and mph gauge s are bouncing around, various idiot lights are going off. Then the truck shuts down for a second and fires back up again on it's own. I'm 350 miles away from home and don't know what to do. I'm throwing a code U0001 and P2509. From my Edge.

It runs fine when it's not shuting off even while pulling our 12k camper. Any help would be appreciated.

Disconnect batteries for few minutes, take that time to check connections to TIPM and ABS module including grounds.

Well I got my truck back from the clinic today. They found the wire cluster that comes out of the firewall by the dipstick was the culprit. The cable was rubbing against the dipstick shorting it self. The way they said they found it was they started moving clusters around and it shut down. Sounds perty simple after they told me what it was. Hope this helps. Good luck

I had a ground strap from the back of the engine block to the drivers side tunnel almost break, it's about 1/2" wide and less than 1/16" was still holding. I replaced the strap and most of my electrical gremlins are gone. I had my tranny out so it was easy to get to, not sure if you can get to it with the tranny in. The braid was broken in the transmission cooler line area so it was visible if you take a look at yours.

There's also the wiring right by the oil filter that is a problem source on our trucks. Check to see if frayed.
