05 bad fuel leak, any ideas/help???

Yesterday I was on my way to pick up my duck boat, as we were heading down the toad my cousin turned off my radio and asked me if I heard the noise. on as he did that I heard a hissing sound that was out of the normal when I would press the skinny pedal. Next thing my wait to start light came on and smoke started rolling into the cab. I found the first driveway I could and pulled over and shut it down. We got out popped the hood and there was fuel all over the motor, underside of the truck, and down the driver side.

I asked my cousin to hop in the truck and turn the key to crank it just to see if I could figure out where it was coming from. I wasn't able to make much out except that it looked to be coming from just below the end of the fuel rail, closest to the firewall.

Would anyone have any ideas on where I should start or any ideas on what it could possibly be?

Thanks for any help guys !!

With the wait to start light it tells me its a leak on the high pressure side down stream of the cp3 pump. Could be a cracked or loose line coming off your fuel rail.
Possible #4 injector line issue. If its a fine mist and strong hissing sound it may be your injector lines.

Check your fittings on your injector. Hopefully this link works.

What he said^^^^^^
Sounds good guys. I will be sure to check on all of that. Ima start with the 4th injector line since that is a fairly simple one to get done first and then from there I will go through the other lines.

Thanks guys

The wait to start light coming on is what means that the return rate is to high correct?

You are correct
on my 2006 2500 had a line to an injector crack and had to get towed home about 70 miles. having triple a paid off. Also had a loose fitting by the transmission that coated the bumper with oil. My mechanic cursed reaching up there to tighten it
Like other have said, likely #4 or #6 injector line, bnut DO be careful while checking for leaks on the HPCR, 23k psi can cut you like a knife
Thanks for the input guys. Ended up being number 4 injector line. It's getting fixed today and hopefully back on the road. Any of you have any suggestions on where to start with having the excessive return rate? Could that be an injector problem? Or could the injector line cause the same issue? I'm still a little new to the fuel system on these trucks.

It was the same problem. Or hopefully. You should be good to go.
That's what I had figured but like I said before I'm still new to the common rails. Thanks guys !
