Tranny hesitates when shifted to drive until rpms go over 1300 and shifts into drive and is real sluggish, slips in between shifts, occasionally drops out of gear during driving revs up and shifts into gear again , reverse seems to not have any issues, leaving a stop have to drop into drive again sometimes , and it may shudder and be sluggish upon driving away. no codes showing , looking for information on rebuilding or replacing the trans has 176,000 original trans no work done to it at all and has been a plow truck. thank you

Not sure but sounds possibly like burned out clutches in the OD unit. There are 2 sets(direct and OD) at about $30 each set and an hour to install at trani shop if you remove OD unit had take it to them, Fairly easy if you are mechanical at all. It comes out easily without removing the whole trani. Just TC and OD unit come out.

You either have a forward clutch that is failing, or a filter that is extremely restricted, which begs the question "what is coming apart and plugging the filter?". Having been used for plowing, my money is on a dying forward clutch.

Neither of the clutches in the OD are being used in 1st gear, FWIW. Reverse works fine, though, so the OD direct is working.

Makes sense. However i did have mine flaring up between gears and it was bad clutches in the OD. Both sets in it.
