I was wondering if I could get better mileage with aftermarket injectors. The 5.9 has 111,000miles on it. I will need to change injector pump, thought if I could afford it maybe a new set of injectors would help. Which ones, how much, can I change them myself??Thanks, Yote

With whats in your sig i would reccomend either DDP 2's or a set of Mach 1.6's. Will help with mieage a bit and give you little better get up and go.

As far as changeing them yourself once you get the valve cover off it's no harder than changing spark plugs.

Would a person need a valve cover gasket or can you reuse them? Do I need special tools or know how to change the injector pump? Yote

No, I re-used my valve cover gasket. You should be able to re-use as long as it's not smashed. Only thing i would reccomend having is bent needle nose pliers and a short/stubby 3/4" or 19mm wrench. for injectors lines 5 and 6

Give coaltrain a call before you spend away hundreds and hundreds of dollars. They got really good prices on injectors. I've pulled mine out about 6x and the gasket still seals. 734-673-4867(richard). or pm Rbratby. Tell them what your looking for and they can make it.

There's some good injector choices out there depending on budget. As far as mileage, it depends. Brand and size of injector, how your truck is setup/ equipped, how you drive, elevation, truck use and the list goes on.

Here at sea level I think we will usually see 1-2.5 mpg depending....

One guy suggested a 45hp injector for my stock engine. How will it run in cold weather, any different than the stock injector. One place claims to have modified the electronics and ect(1200$) in the vp44 pumps, another said it had improvements made on the same line, but 200$ less. These good pumps? Yote

If your injection pump isn't dead don't replace it. Get a set of bosch rv 275's. You can pick them up all day long brand new on ebay for $300-350 and 9 times out of 10 they'll gain ya 1-2mpg and they are a nice little kick in the pants.

If your just looking for mileage and a little power boost, basically leaving it a work truck, RV275's are a great choice. I put in an ez and rv275s and got a 1.5-2 mpg jump right away on a similar truck.

What is the difference in the 45hp and the rv275 injectors,,, My pump sometimes screws up 3-4 times a day, sometimes not once in a day. 2 days now no screw ups in pump function. This started last Sept, usually once in a while, usually less problems with 1 once of 2 cycle oil to a gallon of fuel, before I was running 1 once to 2-3 gal of fuel.Yote

A guy told me to use the 45hp injectors for better mileage. Another told me any time you go bigger, you will use more fuel. I don't haul a trailer much, most miles empty. One guy said some injector tips are junk, should I use the whole injector or just get the tips, how much money to pop test the new tips? Which brand of tip is not a good one, or which one is a good one?
I have been checking into a new injector pump, rebuilt one, and rebuilding the one I have, the one for 1200$ has new up dated electrnics and something else, the 1050$ injection pump, I hear people have them go bad in and out of warranty. What is best for mileage and my pocket book, (empty pocket book)! Yote

He's probably talking about 1 in the same. I've never dynoed them, but I believe most guys claim a 40-50 HP increase.
IMO, RV275's would be a good choice.

Is it true I should pick up 1-2 mpg with these installed? Or as one guy said the bigger the injector the more fuel spent? Yote

My 200hp 7 holes and 240hp 11 holes didn't make me lose any fuel mileage. They didn't gain me any either. :lol3: The bosch rv275's with an EZ have been proven for the last 10 years to gain 1-2mpg and make 300hp/600tq on a dyno.
