I have an 01 24 valve HO manual that had the lift pump not turning on and it would run like ****, took forever to accelerate and sounded like it was missing turned out to be a broken wire and the ecm was not getting power so I believe the vp was making up for the lift pump not running. I have since had that fixed and I know the lift pump is working but now it seems to stutter still I couldn’t tell if it’s as bad as it was before as it does seem to drive fine just doesn’t accelerate or sound the way it should.

Scan for DTCs with a quality scanner. Inadequate fuel pressure to the VP44 likely did damage.

I’ll run a scan tool on it here in a little while and see if it pulls anything. Doing the three key trick will pull a 1693 but I’m not sure if it’s new or not.

You'll want to compare apps voltage to throttle registered if you have a scan gauge that can read it it will make it easier. It should increase steadily with the throttle increase.
