Toyo Open Country ATII "XTreme"

I've heard in the past that these were great tires. However, I did a recent search and found lots of complaints that they wear out quickly. Some complained that they didn't even last 20K miles. I'm especially interested in the "XTREME" versions, but I'm concerned about ride quality and wear. It doesnt say anything on the Toyo website, but I've been told that the "XTreme" versions have 3-ply sidewalls. Is this true? Could the complaints be about the non-"XTreme" versions? I once had Nitto's with 3-ply sidewalls and the ride was pretty harsh. How is the ride quality of the Toyo "XTremes"?

I'm currently running the Xtremes and like them as much as the ATII's. Actually I feel the Xtremes handle the mud a bit better.
I cant tell any ride difference and wear seems to be the same as the ATII's. I have maybe 20k on them and hard to tell they have that many miles.
I would buy them again

I read your thread. I believe your size 285/70r17 have 2-ply sidewalls. The 285/75r17 is labeled as the "ATII Xtreme" and those supposedly have 3-ply sidewalls. I'm concerned about the ride quality of the 3 ply sidewalls. I imagine they yield a rough ride due to the stiffness of the sidewalls. Would like to know if anyone has experienced the ride quality of the "Xtremes."

I tried the 2 ply sidewall'd mazama tire in the size your after and was miserable. too much flex in the sidewall. Those took 1000~1200 miles to get rid of the tread squirm front & back... after that it was clear the front end had too much sidewall flex.

You should be fine with the 3 ply...

I have 295 70 18 I believe are xtremes honestly would have to go look. But ride quality is great. Have driven them highway, snow and deep mud with no complaints. Also quiet. Have over 30k on mine and still plenty of tread. Expect to get atleast 60k out of them.
