Tire size comparison question

Fellas, I have stock LT265 70R 17 E range tires on my truck. It is pretty much stock except I put a two and a half inch leveling kit on the front end. What problems, if any, would I run into going to a LT285 70R 17 E?

TIA

Thread title may mislead some members into thinking this is an off topic discussion.....

As for 265 compared to 285. They're very close in size and wont make much difference. But that said, all tire sizes will vary from tire manufacture to manufacture. It would be best to look up the specific tire of choice and see what their dimensional specs tell you.

265 is roughly a 31" tire, the 285's are about 33". either way, they should fit a stock truck

You can go to a 285/75/17 and it looks perfect... no issues at all...
if you want to see some picts... let me know. I can take a few more.
I've got the 988 springs. about the same as a 2" lift.
About 33.85 tall
11.61 wide

I'm looking at getting 2012 dodge 18" rims and 285/70/18 AT3s. I would like to know how much different the 2012 18" inch rims are from my 2006 17" inch rims. I'm concerned about offsets and back spacing and if they will rub on suspension components. Will the fit be much different. I'm looking into 2 " inch level or 3" inch suspension.

I feel like some of this can be miss leading ... specially if you dont know metric tire sizes are based off the rim ... so same numbers like 285/70/18 will not be the same size as a 285/70/17

What I'm looking to find out is the offset and backspace of my original 17" time and also backspace and offset if the 2012 rims. I would like to know this before I purchase the 2012 18"inch rims. The cooper AT3 285/18 I like are just shy of 35"inch tall. I would go install a 2" inch leveling kit and I don't want the tires to rub because backspace is not correct.
