ctate I test drove both a 19 68rfe and aisin. They both felt very powerful but to me the aisin was noticeably more powerful. I didn't notice any lag and thought the aisin shifted great and was up to speed in no time. I was pretty impressed.

Handshaking Ah yes, didn't notice the torque curve in that video. I'm interested there as they could say they removed torque management and then simply built it in to the tune naturally by shifting the torque curve higher in the RPM range.

dgiturbo The interview I watched with him he said no torque management, and full torque in all gears, first and up. The reporter then joked that this now means people will be drag racing and so on with that 1000 torque, and the engineer laughed and said that's what we expected so we re designed the transmissions and drive train to handle it. I think it was an interview with TFL Trucks when the 2019 frame was being debuted? If I come across the video again I will post a link. You may be right that it's just marketing. Who knows anymore. But I have driven a 2019 three times now and never felt a dead pedal. And having driven my 2013 for 140K miles, I know how to do the dead pedal. I would also guess that with the new 3:73 axle helps.

As for a torque curve, the video I linked above to has the diesel dyno pull to 1000 torque and the split screen in the lower left has the RPM and Torque dials showing in real time. Seems like the 1000 is hit by 1800RPM. Again, it's a FCA corporate marketing video so...

Handshaking The RAM Chief Engineer may have simply meant they are no longer specifically targeting certain gears for torque management. Did he specifically say there was no engine power management or traction control? I doubt they removed anything.

This is also pushing the corporate advertising agenda with this "Full torque in 1st Gear". I've already heard it from RAM and Chevy. It's just the start of marketing bull. The tailgate angle and now "Full torque".

Anyone have any torque curves on the new trucks?

dgiturbo Per the RAM chief engineer, torque management is gone. Full torque is available in all gears, first and up, and in both model engines. I have test driven a few 2019's and there is no dead pedal.
They beefed up the 68RFE and Aisin to handle the power. Not sure what the OP was feeling. Maybe it was a cold and new engine on low cetane fuel?

As for quiet, they did a lot of improvements. Hydraulic lifters, new block, new high pressure fuel pump, acoustic electronics and dampers all over the frame to counter vibration, and the windshield and door glass is also acoustically tuned for noise reduction.

mxsledder I have a 2016 2500 that drives me absolutely nuts with its “dead pedal” when I need it to go it just won’t, so frustrating! I’m passing my 16 down to one of my employees and am getting a new truck for me, likely a 19 ram. I test drove a new HO 3500 and granted it was a shorter test drive but the low end response was way better than my 16, also the torque while accelerating into the freeway was very noticibable over my 16.
I haven’t drove the new 2500 but to me the new HO Cummins 3500 is a beast and with my very limited experience in one I’m quite impressed. Still wish they had an 8 speed tranny ready to go with it but I think the 6 speed Aisin should work quite well with it until they have the new tranny ready.

A couple of things, but the main mechanical change on the 6.7 itself was hydraulic lifters.

And as they "upped" the peak tork, you should notice the RPM at where the torque is made is a higher. Peak torque on the first 6.7's was at 1500 RPM's. It also held that rating up to near to RPM. The higher HP's now peak and then fall faster to high idle RPM.

Regal2800 no i dont notice that. the throttle response on my '19 is much better than on my '16. I also dont have any dead pedal on the '19.
