Thank you for your reply. Sorry its taken so long to respond. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge of this year truck and transmission, puts my mind at ease in searching for one to buy. I'm going to check out the link you supplied right now, and any of your other posts on this subject. I will probably have a few more questions in the future.

oem transmissions are good only for stock trucks, but you can tow without a problem especially on hiighway. a litlle bit sluggish on first and second due to lack of pressure., mine had 180000 kms when died but when is time for rebuilt transmission you need at least a shift kit superior or transgo and a better TC like a single DTC torque converter . 48RE BORG WARNER PRESSURE SOLENOID & TRANSDUCER
look at my thread you'll see what you need for a good reliable 2006
I'M from Europe had manuals all my life here IN North America I buy only with automatics. A good rebuilt automatic 48 re does a very good job, shifts are crisps and fast, transmission is very reliable because relatively simple design. guys with 1000 -2000 hp power goals are chosing 2005-2007 years for builtding those hp goals

2006 5.9L w/ Auto Trans For Towing?
Hey all, I've been looking for a 2006 3500 SRW 4X4 to replace my 1997 2500 12 valve. Question: How is the 48RE auto transmission for towing a 29' toy hauler? I've always had manual transmissions, but I'm having serious right shoulder issues. Also, it seems impossible to find a nice clean truck with a manual 6 speed that isn't a beat up work truck. Appreciate your feedback, thanks!
