Do you have pictures of the finished product? Love that you’re able to keep the factory cubby but curious to see how it looks with the closed half moons.

SeventyGTX Got the new kit in today with the Pioneer 7200NEX and couldn't be happier with the results. Looks much more factory than the one I had before and my phone fits perfectly in the cubby...

SeventyGTX Bumping this thread back up as I just found it while surfing the net for a different double din bezel. I just ordered one to replace the Metra 95-6528B kit that has been in my truck for about a year. Never was happy with the big blocky looking frame. Since the one in the OP seems larger, I should have to cut a bit more from the dash for it to fit.

I currently have a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX, but just ordered a AVIC-7200NEX which is why I was searching for another bezel. I was close to ordering one from Weedahoe, then saw this for $18, it was a no brainer and will be glad to get the cubby back. Here is the current Pioneer with Metra kit. This head unit will be going in my Jeep Liberty once the 7200 arrives for my truck. I love these Pioneer's....

vreihen At least for the Alpine iLX- 007 and 107, they are extremely picky about the image format. It needs to be a 24-bit RGB .BMP image, 800 × 480 pixels. Since I don't own a Windows computer to edit .BMP files, I ran it through a web-based image converter that also did cropping.

Here is the image that I started with, along with a few others that I was considering. Sadly, I could not find a Cummins logo that had any flair to it that would make a good startup screen:

Grogg Subscribed for any future updates. This is what I'll do when I upgrade my stock radio! I can't do without that cubby, I have to carry a phone for work as well as my phone. Plus my wallet, whatever other crap is in my pockets... storage is at a premium!

vreihen The plastic side mounting brackets included with this bezel kit made the Alpine head unit sit about 2mm too high, so I trimmed the bottom of the mounting screw slots in the brackets to make the bracket sit higher on the radio (hence the radio sitting lower):



The nearest tool at the time was a pair of small wire cutters, but a small file, dremel tool, or even a razor knife probably would have been neater.

Here's the finished bezel. It looks worse in person, but I can always peel the Plasti Dip off and start from scratch at any time. This is three slobbery layers of Plasti Dip gunmetal gray, followed by one slobbery layer of Plasti Dip smoke coating:



I was trying to make it have some texture like the other interior panels, and the smoke coating on top added the blackish spots that add depth to the finish. Looking at the picture, I'm thinking that I might try black in the vent bezel recesses since it seems like it would compliment the head unit's bezel better.

Here's the steering wheel remote. The bracket actually slipped under my heated steering wheel cover with only a minor struggle:



One last cosmetic touch. I spiked the ball, adding this wallpaper that I found on the web as the head unit's boot screen:



I couldn't find a Cummins logo wallpaper that I liked. If someone has PhotoShop skills to make one like this with the honeycomb background, I'll gladly give the file a good home in my truck.....

MoparProud Interesting, totally missed this thread before. I've always wanted to upgrade the stereo in the '07, and REALLY need to in the '03 as it lacks even an AUX port.

vreihen Since my truck didn't have the factory "afterthought" steering wheel remote buttons on the back and retrofitting it to a CAN truck would require messing with the airbag clock spring and a trip to the dealer to code the added feature, I dropped another $31 and picked up one of these from Amazon:








Unfortunately, it was intended for use only on Android-based head units that allow steering wheel button reprogramming, and not mainstream radios from the big stereo manufacturers. Enter the $24 PAC SWI-RC "universal" steering wheel controller box, with 4 possible wires and 15 different vehicle codes to try one at a time. (Their documentation only covers hooking it up to factory buttons, but not a two-wire Android head unit remote device.) For anyone else who tries this, the magic combination is tying both "key" wires out of the remote's receiver box together with the white wire on the SWI-RC, using vehicle mode #3, and most importantly pulling the slider switch all the way out on the remote's receiver box to enable 3.3 volt mode (which goes against the SWI-RC's documentation that the white wire is for 5.0 volt controls). If you don't pull the switch on the receiver box, the volume down, arrow down, and mute buttons will not program.

For anyone else without factory steering wheel controls considering upgrading to a name brand aftermarket head unit, this $55 setup should work for any name brand stereo supported by the PAC SWI-RC adapter box.....

vreihen I put the dash panel back on temporarily, so that I could run some errands late this afternoon. The radio is a smidge high, so I'll have to open the dash again and play with the screw holes to find a bit of slack to lower it and move it out a hair:



I mounted the aftermarket steering wheel remote when it came in, but did not have a chance to wire the remote's receiver yet before it got dark outside. Tomorrow's another day.....
