Iíve had ebc green stuff on my 03 and they did brake good but the life span sucked. I think I only got 40k out of them . Ebc rep was surprised I got that much out of them. Iíve had two sets of the yellow stuff pads . They brake nice and I was able to get about 63k out of them . My last set the rears prematurely wore out . I think they only lasted 10k maybe less. I was shocked. I thought my rotors must have been dragging but they werenít . It also worn the rotors down to. I called ebc tech support they were at a lost two. They asked what I did to diagnose it and I told them then he asked for my receipt. They sent me new rear pads and rotors .
Iím now using the dipped and slotted rotors and extra duty pads. They seem to have great stopping power and they are wearing nice . Only complaint is they make a lot of dust .

|brendog84cj8||Anyone else find any of their stock pads backing plates in this condition when they went to replace them? To say it surprised me would be an understatement.|

Here in the near future I will be able to give a report on the Z36 Power Stop pads with stock rotors. I only have 66K on my 14 crew cab long bed and have developed a terrible low speed light pedal squeal that will have everyone at each intersection staring at you. I pulled the front apart yesterday to see if cleaning everything up and lightly greasing all contact points would help and it has not. One thing I did discover was I had one pad on each side that had the backing plate completely rusted, pitted and generally trashed. I have replaced a ton of brakes over the years on many vehicles and have never seen the backing plate of a brake pad in such bad shape. I also noted I was getting more wear on the outer pad than the inner, even though the caliper guide pins were in ok shape. I did pull those pins, cleaned them up and re-greased.
I went ahead and ordered the Power Stop Z36 pads and am going to clean up my stock rotors when they are installed. Hopefully this helps the horrible low speed light pedal squeal and I am interested to see how the pads perform with the stock rotors.

|dieselbuilder||A drilled and slotted rotor has more of a chance to crack under heavy load . I have run dimpled and slotted and green pads for many years over 15 always with best results . Towing trailers and fifth wheel in the Rockies they never failed , the first set lasted over six years , and only two with wagner brand . And now with a newer truck when brakes come around i will spend the extra and do it again|

I have the Z-36 kit.
I had lousy luck with drilled and slotted rotors and carbon Kevlar pads on my '99. Bedded them in same way but they were terrible.

|silver60||I love mine , night and day difference over stock . I have 70k on mine and they still look great . I'm using the powerstop rotors and zero issues. They do make dust but comes off alot easier than the dust from the stock setup .|

Very few road going vehicles (with the exception of super high end vehicles running a carbon/carbon setup that generate high heat under normal loads) will ever encounter these conditions. More important is a high quality rotor casting with the right alloys, quality friction materials on the pad and keeping the pressure going to the piston and not expanding lines. Remember you are talking a very low volume of fluid at a very high pressure, even a small line expansion can reduce friction generating force.
On my car the brakes far out-perform the vehicles capabilities, the drilled and slotted rotors just look good, but don't provide any real benefit over solid rotors except in maybe an extreme braking situation. On my truck I want all the friction surface available, especially when towing. A combination of a quality alloyed rotor, great pad material and non expanding lines can make a huge difference in braking capability and durability. Best part is it is honestly not that expensive to do.
Just as changing from a factory shock to one specific to your driving style can make a huge improvement in your perceived driving and comfort experience, a quality and thought out brake upgrade can do the same. The factory brakes and shocks are actually pretty good, but they are built to a generalized ride quality standard and braking performance benchmarks with cost of production a key limiting factor. Like anything else on the truck they can be improved. IMO, unlike drivability concerns with big power or mileage concerns with larger or more aggressive tires, the only downside to a brake upgrade is cost.

|Jimbo||I have about 34,000 miles on my 2017. Just ordered the EBC orange pads. A buddy had them and loved them. I'll be sticking with the original rotors and will likely upgrade pads/rotors when these pads are worn.|
