2020 Ford Super Dury

I know this is a Cummins/Ram forum...I saw a TFLtruck video interview with Ford at the Texas State Fair. All diesel Super Duties will supposedly get the 1050ft lbs motor and 10 speed, no different between F250, F350, or F450. I am not a big Ford guy, but this definitely simplifies the supply chain and makes for an easy marketing advantage.

I agree 100%

FCA should have just focused on one big power train but alas thatís not the case. I am curious to see the engine transmission premium option cost and how it compares to the Cummins AISIN

I honestly don’t care about a little bit more power, I’ve been driving a lowly all stock g56 truck with 650ft/lbs for 100k miles and the power is just fine. Drove a 19 with the 68fre and it was also fine on power, what I’m more interested in is the most reliable drivetrain which is probably the aisin so that’s most likely what I’ll end up ordering.

After finding out rams moved to the cp4 I started looking hard at 2020 3500 sierras but for the same cost as ram the GM interior is a cheap plain joke, they’re not even comparable and for someone that spends most of their time in the truck that’s important. I love the looks of the 17+ super duty trucks but just don’t think I could buy a power stroke, and the interiors aren’t as nice as ram to boot.

I would really have liked to own a G56 truck, but timing didn't work out for me. My 2012 only has around 57k on it. I don't need the latest version with all of the torque, but it does make a pretty good sales pitch for most buyers. I have owned GM, Ford, and Ram trucks, they all have their good points and bad points. For me, Ram has been the best bang for the buck.

Maybe this will cause Ram to put the new engine and an 8spd in all HD diesels. Only time will tell. TFLtruck did report there is a Cummins Ram running around testing with a ZF 8spd.

I agree, a Denali or ford limited are both more costly than the ram, especially the ford theyíre just stupid expensive. I do love my 16 with the g56 itís been an excellent truck, done nothing to it but maintenance and that truck doesnít have the easiest life.

I don’t mean to be a downer but 30 speed transmissions don’t interest me either. Ram has the highest tow ratings and manages it with 6 gears. I can see where it’s probably beneficial in powerstrokes and duramaxes since their rpm range is closer to a gas motor but with the limited rpm range of the cummins it would probably just result in an awful lot of shifting. I’m sure it’ll come but probably because consumers think it’s what they need. I’m good with a reliable 6 speed gear box

Last year, I saw many wrapped up 2019s being tested down here in Naples. Now I am seeing the same happen with unwrapped 2020s that have Roush decals on the side.

They are probably going to introduce some new things in the next couple years...

I have a truck.

I ordered a 2017 loaded F450 when they came out and loved the truck. However it sat most of the time while I drove my 350 with flatbed. Loved the truck but decided to sell it vs drive it and kill the value. Hindsight, shouldíve kept it. Now seeing 475hp/1050 trq and the fact the Dually (4.10) ram was neck and neck with the gmc 2500 on the Ike gauntlet has me considering if I should check out the ford again. Thatís a significant increase in power and mine pulled 30k lbs terrific. Love the looks of the ram and really whose first to the top of Ike isnít anything Iím concerned with just want to make sure weíre making the right choice with nearly 80k
