:agree2:

I've got
Windows 98
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows 2003 Server
Windows Media Center Edition
And a couple different versions of Linux on hard drives that aren't quite in use at the moment...

Fedora Core 5 on this machine. Why would anyone pay Microsoft for junk software that crashes when you can get the software for free and it doesn't crash. All my machines has been worm, trojan, and virus free now for three years since switching to Linux.

I got a site from MSN to check and see if my system is compatable with Vista.
After checking my system, it told me that nothing I now have would work with Vista.
Lemme see. New putre or mods for truck???? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Guess which won???????

YES!!! Fellow OS X users!!! I am SOOO happy to be out of my Windows machine once and for all. No more stupid anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-everything software running in the background and slowing my machine down.

As to your problem, I have not experienced that either. I will look into it.

Another geek here although lately I've been running M$ XP media center edition and have to admit; it works pretty flawlessly. I am getting ready to start dual booting with Fedora Core again though. I was a long time Redhat user and stayed with Fedora Core until just recently.

Firefox Browser and have always been a mosaic killer (Mozilla) user/beta tester.

Should be able to choose multiples in the poll.

My XP machine is currently undergoing some sort of operation meltdown. Woke up today and my start bar is all screwed up, computer is half as fast as it normally is, when I changed all the setting back, they all started changing back again. I show no viruses, or anything...I hate XP, Vista may be the next step for me...

EEEEEEKKKK! I would stay away from vista....at work it has been nothing but a PIA, a lot of drivers won't work with it, wireless sucks etc etc, Dell actually started offering XP again cause Vista is that bad!....eh, hhhhmmm....not to sound like a a.s.s but did you try something like spybot?

#17 ·
Yeah I tried it all. I just disabled a bunch of things and it seems to be working fine, still slow but nothing is screwing up. I think I will format or something. Pile of crap. Maybe I will just go back to windows 98 lmao.

I have XP. Has ne one used the new Vista yet?

#20 ·
Yes and it blows! It is graphically obese and does not offer many, if any, more functional features than XP. Personally I would stay with XP at very least until the first service pack comes out for Vista. I work in my school's IT department and we have had big problems with students and faculty getting vista. One of the biggest problems is the wireless the permissions are nuts. Also many drivers, such as audio, video, etc, don't work well or at all with vista. Also if you want to disable something it asks you if you are sure about a million times. Vista also does not like to play with ipods and other mp3 players sometimes..... And for those of you who are into illegal downloads...cough, umm.. vista tracks those. :thud:

Haha, I am trying to remember all the XP troubleshooting crap I had to learn in my first two weeks of work. About 99% of the time I deal with server hardware...so I am trying to remember. Hope it helps. Also check the disc space, you maybe at your HD size limit.

kaypro 2000, way ahead of its time!!!
I thought my Comodore 64 was a major upgrade over the VIC20, but when i traded my cassette tape storage in for a floppy drive, i was smokeN!

i think my dodge ECM now has more HP than my old TI-99/4A!!

no wait, i have never used any of those, i must have been dreaming, that would make me way TO OLD!!!

I'm a Computer Tech for the Army the few times I've had to mess with Vista I have been less than pleased with it...from a network admins point of view it's a pain in the arse IMO
