1979 f250 4x4 4bt conversion

I've searched and searched but I have never seen anybody just take a stock 79 f250 4x4. 400m, np435/married 205 with Dana 60s front and rear and just put a 4bt into the exsisting drivetrain. I'm thinking with the 4bt I won't have to modify my front cross member? Does anybody make a bellhouseing adapter for my small block? I see bell housing adapters for the bigblocknp435 and diesel 6.9s . is this my only option. Everything is basically new on my f250 except for the motor. I don't care about big power or going fast. This is mostly a farm truck that hauls round bales (hay). I just want fuel mileage. With the gas engine I go through tons of fuel just puttering around with it.
Any info would be appreciated.

I thought Ford used three 4 SPD's. Np435,t18 and the t19.
435 has aluminium shift tower.
T18 and t19 had steel shift tower.
Doesnt the t19 bell housing from a gas 460 or 6.9 or 7.3 diesel give you more clutch clearance?
Do you know of anybody who makes an adapter plate for any of the bell housing s?
Thanks

Not sure about all that but I have personally taken a blown up 400m out of a truck and dropped in a 460 big block even the motor mounts were the same. I was informed about that from a local guy who actually worked for ford in the development of the m series motor he also said he was sorry for such a steaming pile of poo.... they were being pushed by the emissions and mpg nazis. The truck I did this swap in had the np435 that is a super common and strong trans.

I see a ton of 460 zf5 trans to cummins adapter plates but not one for the earlier transmissions I would call a company like destroked and ask them.

The 460 adapter plate will let you bolt any 460 manual bell housing to the cummins engine, but most people switch to a OD trans to make up for the lower revs the Cummins makes.
Without a OD trans if that F-250 has 4.10 gears that Cummins will be reved out just to make 55 mph and would want to cruise at 45 mph.

Thanks everyone. Destroyed has one for a small block ford. Years ago an outfit in montana Made a plate for the t19 big block,or diesel but they don't have it listed on line anymore.
Truck currently has 3.55 and spends 90 percent of its time in low range. In high range with a Cummins if it would go 50 I would be happy.

I meant to say destroked not destroyed. I just spent stupid money getting that np435/205 rebuilt. Don't want to throw out all the time and money I have into it.
If I do this I want to do this as simple as possible. I don't want to get into another big project.

You don't want a adapter for a small block, you want it for the 400/460 bell housing you have.
Their calling it the Big Block (ZF5 gas) adaptor.
There where 4BT's used in some delivery vans with Ford 4 spd trans but I haven't seen any in a while.

My understanding is 400m is small block,460 is big block. With an auto both will bolt up but with the various 4spds they have different bell housings.
Years ago the outfit in kalispel mt. Said only the bell housing from a t19 to a 460 gas or 6.9/7.3 diesel would work. Np435 and t18 bell housing did not have enough depth.
Destroke
d shows 2 adapter plates for small block to 4 SPD Cummins. I'm not sure why they have 2? They don't mention the 3 different types of 4 SPD bell housings.

Diesel conversions in mt don't even show there 4 SPD adapter anymore but I have it printed off from before so I know I'm not remembering wrong. There wanting to do just 5 SPD conversions now.

A few 400 blocks made one year 70 or 71 had the small block bolt pattern, I've never seen one.
The rest of the thousands of 351M and 400's had the exact same bolt pattern as the 429/460.
You 79 F-250 has the big block bell housing, I know this because I had a 79 F-150 originally 400 4 spd truck with a 429 engine bolted to the 400 bell housing.
