Bad vibration and oil leak

Just started having a bad engine vibration and oil leak. I can’t pinpoint where the leak is coming from but it seems like it’s on the front left of the engine. Its quite a good amount of oil but only leaks badly when it’s running. The vibration calms down slightly when I apply the throttle. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

Could also be the tappet cover. You probably should do them both anyways.

When the engine is idling, see if the harmonic damper is wiggling.

Well I was waaaay off. Hit it with degreaser and the pressure washer. Couldn’t find the leak. Crawled under the front end and traced it back to a 3” hole in the right side of the block. Looks like it was thrown rod which surprised me because I didn’t think it would still run with a thrown rod.

Yeah I don’t know what could blow a hole in a block like that where it could still run. A thrown rod should make a lot more racket and it wouldn’t run right? But other than the rough idle and oil leak there’s not any other issues. The hole in the block is about 2 1/2-3 inches. Is it possible to weld a patch on a hole that size? I’m in the San Antonio area.

Pretty good price if it actually runs good.
