Truck cranking for 15-30 seconds before starting

Hey guys I have a 98.5 24v, it has been running great recently, just replaced VP44 and fass and I have 15lbs of fuel pressure at idle and 21 at highway speeds. When I try to start the truck after I've been driving it for a while it cranks for 15-30 seconds before it fires up. I can hear the fass pumping but it still wont start. Truck has 286k on stock injectors so maybe thats the issue?? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

ALSO truck is throwing a code for glow plug circuit #2 so that could also be the culprit. Thanks!

Do the hill test. park the truck on a hill with the nose facing down, if the truck starts right up, you have an air leak on the return lines. if the truck is still hard to start, you may have a VP problem.

idle pressure is too high to start, common problem, the VP likes less pressure on start up.

ALSO forgot to mention I have a super bad fuel leak on my tank seal. Could air be getting into the tank somehow causing it to crank so hard?

Outer module seal would not be the issue. But line couple seals could or damaged module.
Air leaks on fittings or return line fittings could be(hill test). Pressure too high is more likely if it is only when it is warmed up.., Batteries starting to go can be similar, but again it would be both hot and cold, or worse when cold.
Does Wait to Start light com on immediately with the key to ON. If not your ECM is bad and needs replacement and is the cause of delayed starting and grid heater code. It is not booting up for stasrt correctly, Used, or rebuilt and programmed replacemnt only, no do it your self fix.

just did the hill test and it didn't make a difference, wait to start light comes on every time. It is throwing a glow plug circuit#2 code could that be it? it cant be the vp44 bc it has less than 5k miles on it since she went... when my fass and vp44 went I used the wiring harness that was already installed when I hooked up my fass and it did it a few times with the old pump... could the wiring harness be the issue?

It will start and run without even having grid heaters or relays, so not that. Your idle fuel pressure reading is probably off because it should not be more at highway than idle speed. So the 21 is likely more accurate and it is your problem. It shuts off a valve in the VP. Search threads here for no start high fuel pressure or similar for details.

Just for fun, also have batteries load tested separately and disconnected. Unnoticeable only slightly slow cranking can act similar when a battery is going bad. If on is bad replace both.
