Tap or not to tap

I am building a new 5.9 and have herd about the oil gallery plugs leaking. I do not want to pull this thing back out for a oil leak. Would tapping and installing screw in plugs be the way to go. Has any one done this?

I've only ever heard of the plug under the tappet cover blowing out, and even then only due to improper install by a shop or using an off the rack plug instead of the correct Cummins part.

I think you're referring to the practice of removing the head coolant galley plugs (under the valvetrain) and tapping them for NPT plugs. Not necessary unless you're pushing over 500hp and don't have a coolant bypass installed (which you should).
