Brand new 47re hanging on to first

I just put in a brand new unit from a highly rated transmission company and I am having an issue. Under normal driving throttle inputs the transmission is holding on to first gear for what seems like way too long. It is shifting at about 2500rpm and then slamming very hard into second. Second on up are firm, but shift in normal spots. This makes it terrible to drive in daily conditions. What could be the issue?

Sounds like maybe they put a bad or cheap governor pressure sensor in it. Any which way it sounds like a warranty issue you should call them over.

99 2500, Quad cab, 4x4 47RE, BD pressure lock on it, small BD 90/140 chip on the VP 44 connection plug, 17" 3rd gen wheels. 3.55 diffs. Ruenell front bumper and warn winch, Rancho adj shocks. 663k miles.

Thanks Stormin08 I looked into the TV cable and that did the trick, for the most part. It now shifts at normal RPM still quite firm and jerks your head back, but I think thats just a built tranny for ya

Most newly rebuilt trans' will have a pretty firm shift at first (from experience with older gas engine trans') but usually smooth out over time as they break in, I don't have any experience with built diesel transmissions besides riding in my buddies 3rd gen with a built 48, it seems like it has smoothed out a bit since he first had it installed. If I'm wrong somebody please correct me so I learn

Have you called the "highly rated transmission company" to get their advice on setting up the TV cable? Did they send any instructions or any pressure test regimen?

I did, and they did not provide either of those. That is why I turned to posting up a thread here.
